welcome to 104.9 The cat.

It appears that they went from playing Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" at 10:47 a.m. on Friday to playing Brooks & Dunn's "Building Bridges" at 10:50 a.m. I bet there was no tape rolling of the change, but was anyone listening at the time the flip happened? By the airplay times, it's possible that they cut off Nugent mid-song.

Albany is a college town. I went to two shows so fare this year, puddle of mudd and three days grace. both at the washington ave Armory. They were sold out! you could tell the kids were having a great time, as was I. It was good to see rock was alive and well in capitaland. They were wrong to take away the edge. As fare as Im concerned, radio in Albany NY is officially dead.

Ok...let me use my rocket science knowledge....The Washington Avenue Armory holds about 1,500 people. Last year WGNA drew 35,000 people to the Altamont Fair Grounds for Country Fest...most of them young adults having a great time. In the Capital Region Country Music is where it is at...has been for some time. The Edge was never going to amount to anything...no ratings...no $$$...no station. This is Capital Region Radio.

Ditto for the Cat....By the way, the Edge was financially the most successful format that was tried on WZMR...

Ware dose 35,000 hillbillies go to get drunk, fight and play in the mud? COUNTRYFEST. Then local and State police turn a blind eye as 35,000 clearly intoxicated drivers hit the road ways. cause theys are good old boys.

We'll yeah dude...wouldn't be a very good promotion and bring dollars to the community if everyone was arrested as soon as they left the parking lot! Now would it?

Interesting song choice, considering the "Cat" song was played on the station's old format, while the first song on the new format refers to the name of the other new station on the FM dial! Unreal...

And, yeah, I would venture to guess the new format officially kicked off at 10:49 AM... 104.9 FM... get it?

I hate to admit it but I love this station. WGNA is one of the worst programed and worst sounding country stations in the nation but this new one sounds phenomenal and I think I'm making the switch. I'm glad to have another country option and a better one at that.

You love this station . Wonder if you will feel the same way when the 10000 songs are over and you start hearing all of the chatter, spot's etc?

Okay, compared to other established country stations in America, it probably will not impress... But apparently, the Capital Region loves it to death - possibly due to their "monopoly" on the format?

WGNA is poorly programmed even compared to other "non-established" country stations in America. It's just terrible.

BUT, signal counts and 104.9 ain't got one. Mismatch from day one

Chatter maybe....Spots????

It seems a little strange to me that some think GNA is so bad when they are one of 5 nominees for the #1 country station, in medium market, Academy of country music.

Those so-called nominations you speak of for GNA are something that you have to be nominated for, often it's self nominated, and you pay a fee when you submit your airchecks. If you suck and you're the one that sucks the least you win. It is just like the NAB awards where someone (usually self) nominates you. The people doing a good job don't need an award to run around show people becuase they know they are good.

I realize that...I just don't think that they will have any/many...a problem that seems likely for KLI and ROW at this point too...

Osama,

Just a quick clarification, what does your post actually mean please?

Two new stations with out any ratings data to back up their success (or lack) will not be the easiest sell...
