Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

JJ, I'll link you to a map. see below...take with a grain of salt of course as it's not totally accurate. It does list Lawrence as being just within the "distant" circle as opposed to local or fringe. Almost into fringe territory.

If 101.7 indeed debuts as The Harbor poss first songs? Sea Cruise. Harbor Lights. Sailing (h/t bostonradio). Come on Down to My Boat Baby. Two Ships that Pass In The Night (Manilow). so many possibilities

or Jimmy Buffett's "One Particular Harbor"

>I'm thinking they unplug http://wfnx.com's feed sometime between midnite and 6am then run a format preview loop Official format launch probably during afternoon commute - 3pm,4pm or 5pm Will prbably get CC's release sometime in the morning before they flick on Harborlights in the afternoon

right remember it has to help protect
101.5 WWBB Prov. (owned by CC), WWHQ Meredith NH
101.9 WCIB Cape Cod, WPOR Portland, also WKKN Westminster VT etc.

WFNX also has an IF interference issue with 90.9 WBUR (101.7 - 90.9 = 10.8 ).

Due to the Intermediate Frequency of FM receivers being 10.7, stations that are 10.6 to 10.8 mHz apart can't be spaced so that they are both over some certain amount of strength in overlapping signal areas, or images of both stations may show up all over the dial of radios in areas where both signals are around equal strength.

I don't know all about this phenomenon, but I think that this prevents WFNX from increasing power to the west of Boston toward WBUR's transmitter on FM-128 at the Newton/Needham line, and I have heard that if WBUR had never moved their main transmitter to that location from their old (and current backup) site on the B.U. Law Building, that WFNX could never have moved their transmitter to Boston (or even to its previous location at the Malden/Medford line) from its original location in Lynn.

Otis Redding, "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay"
Hues Corporation, "Rock the Boat"
Led Zeppelin, "What is and What Should Never Be" (lyrics)
Christopher Cross, "Sailing"
Randy Newman, "Sail Away"
Robert Palmer, "Sailin' Shoes"
Aerosmith, "Remember (Walkin' in the Sand)" (more likely than the Shangri-Las' version)
B-52's, "Rock Lobster"

And the hits keep coming...

I hope no one "Harbors" any sinking feelings to guessing the first songs.. We don't want to make any 'waves'.. ;D

So, had WODS not flipped would we still be talking Variety Hits?

AND......is this the next logical home for the Lost 45s assuming the format is indeed Variety Hits? (It would be a VERY SMART move by CC to bring in a pre-set audience....)

That could well be the case. (Flip to var hits). It could have been Spanish or conserv talk though maybe they figured variety hits or something close to it all along. And yes they could hire Barry.

"Harbor Lights" - Bruce Hornsby

Listening to wfnx and its silent

WFNX went silent at 10:28 pm 7/22 (stream and FM) after Jerk!" by Stephie Coplan & The Pedestrians. However, I think the signal was still powered when I checked the car stereo around 10:35, despite the radio silence.
