Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

Doing tech work maybe--
tweets: Signal is horrible 20 mi west, and I'm hearing processing changes. CC definitely has the keys and is making tweaks.(radioinsight)... Correct. The techs are probably in the process of linking transmitter in downtown Boston to Clear Channel's Medford studios.(bostonradio)

FWIW...talk1017.com still points to talk1200....could the WHBA calls just be a big pizza pie in your face......Hub Broadcasting Associates...a unit of Clear Channel Boston????

We don't know for sure who registered talk1017.com. It could have been a domain name squatter. Don't know..could even be someone at CC buying them privately to throw us off course too.

A solid signal now emanating from...Medford. Tweet:

>>Just confirmed from a friend - what we are hearing is coming from Medford - Lynn is offline

We don't want WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

The arrival of WHBA, "The Harbor" is bad for Boston, and we want you to go away. WFNX, alternative rock, belongs on 101.7, not WHBA and whatever format it brings in. Mindich may have sold out to Clear channel, and it's too bad he didn't look for an alternative buyer when the offer was probably very high. I hope WHBA fails and we want WFNX back. The Harbor may be on the dial, but WFNX is in the peoples' hearts! WFNX was the best thing that happened to Boston, and we want it back! Go away, Harbor!

Although I share your sentiments, the question is what if you owned a station that was reportedly losing money and someone offered you 14.5 million to take it off your hands?

Given the tens of millions in the hole he said 'FNX was.....the format wasn't likely to be kept by anyone.

For whatever reason - Mindich kept WFNX separate from the Phoenix.

He kept the WFNX studios in Lynn when he easily could have moved them into his offices near Fenway Park.

He told WBUR 2 months ago he did not want to sell....but he had to.

By the same token - how was the station 'losing' money? I am sure the profit was way down but I doubt the station ledger was in red link.

I suspect that Entercom did offer more money for the license but Mindich held out thinking he could get more - but once Entercom blew up 93.7 Mindich had less options.

Have it on very good authority that 101.7 is still running out of Lynn.Sale closing will take place today or tomorrow.

No Clear Channel involvement until Phoenix Media gets its one big check.

So last night's technical difficulties were just that - technical difficulties. Carry on.

WFEX is still off as of 9:30AM, and I am receiving WXEX 92.1 in Merrimack NH. Mindich is probably done with 92.1 and turned the lights off. My guess is WFEX will be off the air for awhile until Blount takes control and gets the STL set up.
