Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

Yes and the 1540 they're relaying (WXEX) is lic. to Exeter NH

A post on Occupy WFNX facebook group says: " ‎92.1 was switched to the new station earlier this morning, but now is just static...."

And yes the first song from midnight was Zooropa and they're going backwards in the alphabet

I'm enjoying "good time rock and roll" on 92.1 from Sanford while 92.1 Peterborough (Mount Manadnock) is off air. It would have been great if Aruba Capital bought WFEX -- the call letters are already similar.....

of this morning (Monday July 23, 2012) little after midnight, it seemed like it was still WFNX, as well as this morning 6am.
Last time I was listenning was 6:30am.
May you all keep us updated as to when they change?
At my weekday job, they allow us to listen to only one station (Magic 106.7) every office has that station on throughout this company on their (music speaker)
May you all keep us updated?
Thank you

We'll keep you updated. What happened last night was that both the reg signal and stream went to dead air at 10:30 pm. At the stroke of midnight they came back on with U2--Zooropa--and started to play songs back by title but in reverse ABC order. What may have happened was that the stream of automation ran out and it was set to start again, a new day, at midnight. It seems like they may be doing technical work but from what we hear they're still broadcasting from Lynn. What will prob happen is when they do go on, signal beamed from the Clear Channel bldg on Cabot Rd in Medford to their tower on top of 1 Financial Place.

It was also interesting that the diff. domain names registered, prob by clear channel, all were mostly blank but with "Access denied" showing up, after midnight
And as said above the sale is still not officially done yet--CC still needs to pay the remaining $11 million or so maybe (they had given a $3.5 mil deposit before I think)

bostonradio tweet: The deal hasn't closed yet so Clear Channel can't launch anything until legal papers change hands. Most likely Harbor 101.7

Hey ssetta, What's there to like about the new station. It embodies corporate America shoving things down the peoples' collective throats and it replaces the best radio station Boston has ever had, possibly the best station in the world. Note to the Harbor and Clear channel, you may own the dial, but the people want you to go away. We want our WFNX back where it belongs!

Hey, this station actually sounds pretty good! Finally, a new station that I actually like!

Oddly, 101.7 is coming in better than usual today in the Fitchburg area, which was usually more of 92.1's terrritory.

What an anti-climax this all is. All this ruckus over MikeLite. Even THAT is better than what's in store for the WFEX Peterboro repeater burro. To be perfectly Blount, no preset for you!

This is also the clunkiest transition I've ever heard. I'd guess it was planned on the basis of CC having closed the deal by Friday, which is apparently not the case. It might have been better to have a weekend full of surf sounds, bouy bells and seagulls a la the old WJIB-FM, leading up to a Monday noontime debut.

In short: phooey!

You're not getting it. Accept it and move on. Who appointed you spokesman for "the people"?

If you all wanted your FNX so badly, you would have supported it with more ratings and by supporting the local advertisers.

This is a similar answer to a similar argument by the "Save Jazz on WGBH" crowd. Support it and it stays.

I think there were plenty of things that FNX was doing wrong over the past couple of years that also caused it to erode. The music wasn't focused, they went through a morning show a minute, sometimes with no morning show, too much "classic alt" for lack of a better term (Nirvana etc. which are now on WZLX/WAAF/WBOS/WHEB).

When WERS is tailing you by only a couple tenths of a point, and during one month tied them, with all students on the air at the bottom of the dial, you're doing something wrong.

WZLX doesn't play Nirvana....but a song on ZLX by Boston sounds suspiciously like "smells like teen spirit"

Give WZLX another year or two and they'll be playing Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. And yes, the riff in "More Than a Feeling" sounds a lot like the one in "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

Bulletin: Change of plans

Just in: This has all been an elaborate ruse....101.7 is actually being LMAed by Harvard Broadcasting!

We’re Harvard Broadcasting Authority

Format: Record Hospital - 24/7! ;D ;D ;D ;D

If 90's alt rock is becoming classic rock why wasn't CBS forward looking enough to merge the newer WZLX (1985) in to the older WBCN (1968) at the 104.1 frequency and fuse the two formats? WZLX's playlist is similar to pre-1994 WBCN and a lot of people migrated there after the alt-rock reboot in 1994, you give both eras fans what they want and still free up a frequency for Sports Hub. Only lose the Nu Metal era fans, which was the beginning of the end for the station anyways.

One thing is definite is Clear Channel is even less transparent than Penn State was. I called up Clear channel to see when it will go on the air at 101.7 so I can listen to WFNX's last song. The girl, who answered the phone, was nice, but said, she and her office don't know. The way Clear Channel is being secretive is pretty bad. I don't care how good the format is, I want them out, and I'm glad I don't listen to WXKS because Clear Channel is evil! Long live WFNX!

Not sure who registered it: https://twitter.com/1017theharbor

Also supposedly a facebook "private" (for now) account but it didn't turn up (of course since it's private
it wouldn't allow me in, ha)

Any shred of credibility you may have had has been tossed down the drain. To equate a rational business decision with the Penn State scandal?
All that over entitlement has adversely affected you, methinks.

With all the people tuning in to WFNX to catch the changeover, I wonder if next month they will show a huge bump in the PPM ratings :D
