I guess aside from being a decent reporter, which what Mr. Kalb is, he also happens to be a liberal--typical of newsrooms these days--Clear Channel owned or not. I mean this quote sums it up for me about Mr. Kalb:
"By the way, the winner of my previous column’s “Worst of the Year” award was “Faux (Fox) News” for crimes against journalism for its anything but impartial reporting."
EARTH TO KALB, WELI IS A FOX NEWS RADIO AFFILIATE--the only one in CT. I prefer them over CBS and ABC Radio and I'm saying that as I watch Fox News Channel, which has the top five cable programs for news. He is just like all the other whining leftists out there--AFRAID OF SOME COMPETITION TAKING ON THE LIBERAL SLANT OF THE CORPORATE MEDIA!
This like anything else is a business and when a sinking ship is taking on water, abandon it ASAP! I'll bet Kalb had the same professors where he went to school who taught him to belittle capitalism, promote socialism and Marxism and read Utopia as I went through. From his columns Pacifica would work for him if he could withstand the whine of Amy Goodman!
To a leftist like Kalb, it could be worse, Michael Savage could be on WELI. And since when does UCONN Storrs teach broadcast journalism? IT SURE WASN'T OFFERED TO ME TEN YEARS AGO WHEN I WENT THERE NOR IN STAMFORD! But I digress.
To his credit, Kalb mentioned WICC, WCBS, WINS and 'TIC along with WQUN--which has become if I may quote something from WELI's past New Haven's News Haven.
WGCH here in Greenwich is committed to local news despite being owned by a corporate entity in Business Talk Radio. BTR is moving to Stamford, while WGCH moves out of its Dayton Avenue digs for something closer to downtown Greenwich. I am not mentioning WSTC/WNLK as I may have a job with them doing board operations. Went in for an interview and they have a strict policy about talking about radio from within on boards like this.
