Well, Venus Is Here

It also sounds like an 80s or 90s way of doing a format when they are cost cutting. It sounds like the DJ is on satelite.

Did anyone hear the actual flip? If so, how was it and what time? What is the syndicated show that is on tonight?

As of 8am Wednesday, it's still Lulu on 1025 The Party...but
some spots and promos mention 1025 Venus FM.
I'm sure there's some fabulous reason to run imaging for both the
old and new stations at the same time: I just have no idea what it could be.
______________

Last night was syndicated or satellite or something..and it was Venus..this morning LuLu says The Party and Venus.

The only thing that seemed to be different last night was
longer periods of dead air, choppy music (it is syndicated)
and the same ID and liners playing during commercials. This
may well be the worst thing Cromwell has put on the air since
the Zebra Classic Rock joke. All I can wonder is "why?" It
is 2005. Why?

It will flip tonight

LuLu and Brad said it will flip tonight officialy (midnight)? And Bob & Sherri will be on tomorrow morning.

This was my first time listening to LuLu & Brad... and man is that Brad obnoxious or what? No wonder they have no ratings.

Re: It will flip tonight

Yes, I heard Lulu and Brad this morning and the syndicated stuff last nihgt. I have to admit this is the wrost format flip I've ever heard. I was just listening a bit ago, and the station sounded jockless with the venus liners and 80's music. Something tells me this wasn't planned out well

What was syndicated?

Re: It will flip tonight

> What was syndicated?

The overnight show sounded syndicated. Mostly '90s and current rock-leaning Hot AC with only the Venus sweepers mixed in with the syndicated/satellite jock.

Then I wake up this morning hearing that they are still The Party.

I'm not expecting good things with this new station, that's for sure.

Understatement of the year. I agree. It sounds bad, bad, bad.
______________

My brief listening to it this evening heard a Venus sweeper run in the middle of a song. Definitely sounded like an attempt to automate with syndication and many kinks to work out?

Nock

This is bad

I listened tonight too and heard that happen a lot. And they are using some type of syndicted satellite format (possibly Westwood One or something like it.) Why would you do that on a 100,000 watt station in a top 50 market?

Perhaps in the Fall book, WNFN, The Fan will no longer be the bottom feeder of the market.

It's unbearable, Rich. Unbearable.
______________

You think it's THAT good? I'd clean house after
a joke of a launch like that.

I heard a few minutes of the syndication Wed night about 10:
only way to tell it was syndicated was the lack of call letters
(and dead air after a break). The "talent" sounded more like an
intern filling in...what service/show are they using for nights?
"sucks" is too kind.
______________
but wait...there's more!

we are using jones radio for beginners satellite, sucks huh?

What 100,000 watt station in a top 50 market are you referring to, because I don't think 102.5 is running at 100,000 watts. If they are, they have the weakest 100,000 watt signal in existance. I live within 5 miles of the studios on Murfreesboro Road and I have trouble picking up the signal at my house. I'm not sure what wattage they are running their station on, but it has to be one of the weakest commercial FM signals in Nashville.

Re: This is bad

> we are using jones radio for beginners satellite, sucks huh?

Yes, "we" sucks. Anyone using Jones will never get decent ratings,
no matter how tight it is. That might exclude the Smooth Jazz.
"We" are currently obviously in denial if "we" think the crap
played so far is of ANY merit...would "we" like to hear the 10
steps to improvement, which "we" would never consider or the
10 reasons "we" suck and will continue to because "we" won't
spend a few dollars to do it right?

Here's a free tip:

Don't EVER use Jones if you are in a Top 70 market. It is never
geared to the exact format the live times of local broadcasting
have, so it sounds seriously distant (not local) and out of
sync with the female oriented (yeah, right) Venus concept.

Hence: dayparts after wasted morning syn say "your town, your
lifestyle, your music, your whatever" and at night it's the
"80's, 90's and now." BTW, Nashville is a CITY, not a town
anymore. "We" are making us sound like a hick town.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but this Venus is the saddest sounding
radio station in Nashville since the early 1980's. C'mon. It
ain't that hard.
