And a well-deserved tribute. Marty Haag was responsible for Ch. 8's being named one of the two best local news operations in the country by the Columbia Journalism Review in the late '70s (WCCO Minneapolis was the other); the front four of Tracy Rowlett, Iola Johnson, Troy Dungan, and Verne Lundquist were about as good as local news gets.
I never met Mr. Haag, but I did get to meet his bosses, Mike Shapiro and Dave Lane (both of whom have also passed on), when I lived in Dallas. Both were class acts and I think it showed on the station.
