WFAA UNVEILS NEW VICTORY PARK STUDIOS MONDAY

Ch 8 moves its daily and weekend newscasts to the Am Airlines Center neighborhood Monday 1/8. Tune in all day; might be some interesting things to watch as they work out the bugs on the new studios!

Who will be the first in the morning to "moon" Morti..uh Alexis by that large window?

Other than making sure KXAS, KDFW or KTVT didn't get into Victory Park, what purpose does this studio serve? With all the cuts around the Belo empire, this seems like a waste. Are we going to see an 'FAA studio in Glorypark (Arlington's new development between Jerry-World and the Your Credit Sucks So Much, So Come Borrow From Us Ballpark) with the 6 and 10 newscast?

If this was just a place to put Dale's fill-in each night the Stars or Mavs were in action, or even just the GMT studios I could start to understand (a report on wfaa.com aptly points out, the majority of the outside viewers will all be wearing hardhats when the studio debuts -- and probably for quite a while after that, too).

It just seems to me the same money could have been spent on beefing up WFAA's Tarrant and Denton county coverage and newsrooms rather than wasting it on a second downtown Dallas location.

To me what was so funny was the HUGE write-up in the Dallas Longhorn News on Saturday morning about it. Gee, I wonder why ????

There has never been any mention of the new Fox 4 News set that they have built at KDFW in the Dallas Longhorn News. Now why is that ???

Could it be that both WFAA and The Dallas Longhorn News are owned by Belo, Inc.????

No, they wouldn't do that, would they ???

Im all for the "Streetside" studio concept, id like to see NBC5 or CBS11 take up shop in either JerryTown or Sundance Square.

I've looked at the clips online and I'm not impressed. It's the same set they have over at their current studio, just with a big window on the outside world. Why not do something different?

And yeah.. why spend all the money on this thing when they're cutting the DMN to the bone?

Something is seriously out of whack at Belo.

Wow, a channel 8 studio where folks can watch how a show is made?...That would be Sump'n Else! ;)

Exactly what I was thinking. Will the Victory Park studios be another North Park?

"Today" and the other network morning shows have their teams go out the studio and interact with the crowd. Since AAC events are usually at night, there's not going to be much of a crowd, if any, at 6AM outside their studio. So, I don't get what the point of this studio is since they are still going to use the other one as well.

RE tested and others' responses on the utility of the VP studios. It's as they said--there is none. The studios are a splash whose luster will quickly fade. Unless they're sitting in a wide bump shot to show the windows there IS no difference. The project was simply a matter of "look how much money we spent--on nothing."

Seeing that area is going to become a center for life in Dallas in the not too distant future, its a smart move to get in at the ground floor. It gives them prime real estate to interact with the crowds (Esp. on GMT) and sets up the possibility of alot of other things to follow. The days of the "Sit Down Anchor Desk" are numbered and I for one am glad to see Belo take a brave step.

I'm all for trying something "different" but I just don't associate that with a Belo company.

The Dallas Longhorn News "used to be" a great newspaper. It almost sucks now. The buyouts really have hurt that paper, big time. I hate the Guide Live section or whatever you want to call the arts, gossip and entertainment section. Just hate the layout of it.

The sports section is still "okay" but not nearly as good as it used to be. What really burns me up is when they put an advertisement on the front page of the sports section. Even if it is a very very small ad. I don't think you'd see an excellent paper do that. All that comes to mind is The Boston Globe. I'm sure other great papers wouldn't do it either. No ads on the front page of a section.

I also miss Al Brumley. I know a ton of people on the radio forum for Dallas miss him as well. I miss Blackie Sherrod and others. I know, I know; things change. But I don't like some things that change..........

I am glad Kevin "Woe is the Black Man" Blackistone and Gerry "Fat-ass" Fraley are gone from the sports page. Those two guys were total idiots !!

Alexis "brilliant"(?) comment on the window was; "Its exciting to look at people looking in to look at us".How much is she being paid?

.....Well on Romper Room, the "teacher" could always see us watching them. She'd say "I see Bobby and Johnny and Debbie and Davie...." I was always afraid she would see me and say my name.

I'm not crazy about her either, but maybe you should click here for the correct spelling: www.wfaa.com/aconomos/

I guess I'm one of the odd ones. I think Alexis or however you spell her name is HOT !!
Megan Henderson (I think that is her name) is a hottie as well on Fox 4 in the morning, but I refuse to
watch it because of Tim Ryan. According to Ashley Banfield, he was very mean to her when she used to
work mornings at Fox 4. :(

Don't be mean to Ashley, Tim, or I'll have to come kick your butt !! :)

Now Ashley is a babe !!

Also, today I was watching FoxNews on cable. My gosh, do they have a ton of good looking news babes
working for them or what ????

I don't think anyone has ever said that Alexa (aka Alexis, aka Mortica) was not good looking. Most of the comments have been about her presentation on the air.
Megan Henderson has a good presentation and yes she is HOT. :) I assume Tim Ryan is the guy sitting next to her. ;D If you know the same thing about him that you do about Brad, please keep it to yourself. I can't watch poor Brad without thinking about Michael Landon's wolf-boy movie now.

OnTexasTime,

You cracked me up !! :)

Nope, I do not know a thing about Tim Ryan the guy sitting next to
Megan, other than he was mean to my dear sweet Ashley Banfield.
I still might go beat him up for that. :) Megan is very pleasing to look at, no doubt.

As for Alexis, I don't see anything wrong with her presentation either, am I missing something? I think she does a good job in the morning.

Does anyone else think that Jackie Hyland is a little high stung in the mornings ??? :)

As for FoxNews, they can bring all the eye-candy they want to the
tube..........After all, Republicans are better looking and smarter, aren't we???? :)

Just kidding around....................

Ashely was a ditz and a pain in the [EDIT].

Tim showed great restraint by not clocking her.
