WFLF Jamer increased power

FYI, Freedom 94.5 is applying to FFC to move frequency. For the benefit of the listeners. And all the letters that cceng tries to get won't make a bit of difference. Okaloosa County is not part of their coverage area.

The Freedom stations screwed at 94.5 in EVERY possible way. EVERY! It would actually benefit you to move the frequency based upon you saying CC's signal is the issue and that you don't have an issue with that, as it's the first and bigger signals right to exist in peace and the FCC made a mistake in allocating 94.5 and that you'd enjoy more success by getting a new spot. What tower site are you using? You have every right to enjoy the 94.5 frequency, but man, even though the CC signals in PstJ (kinda) that 100kw blasts because a.) the terrifically talented engineer named aka Rob Pilsner Strobey put foil on the antenna and b.) there's nothing but blue sky to block it massive power. If it was hilly, you'd have no issues. It might be Hales last chance to save this. Why IS the Freedom station off the air all the time? Another benefit for the listeners?

BalthazarFM ......fwillis is correct.....FCC sez contours don't count when it comes to translators they are never protected......it would be much easier if Hale would find a frequency on his own and move.....he can control the situation BUT if he gets a letter from the Commission telling him to shut down, he doesn't control the situation and his listeners don't know what happened. He would have better coverage if he would find a frequency and move to it before that happens.....because it will if he doesn't take action soon.

Hell, why did I even type my BS. "What he said." Sorry to steal your thunder. If Capt. A were only open today...

CCENG - Wish I was able to join ya for gin, beer and visuals. It's gonna be a while. In the middle of two huge projects that have me glued to my seat. You will have to make sure Rob checks the strobey's are all working without me for a while.

Never understood why they are closed on Sundays.. the busiest day of the week!

Rob.....same reason WAAV in Crestview signs off at midnight....it is a business decision.....you gotta have some time off.

Speaking of time off Charlie, I miss the Boars Head steaks and the cool old stuff they've destroyed along PCB now that you mentioned Cpt. A's. How's WPFM sounding these days, guess I could listen online. Rather would like the WPFM tribute site to be on 24/7 even if it repeated every three hours. Back to reality...

Rob - you seem to be going to PBC a lot these days (esp. on Sunday!) I guess the donkey and Mapquest are used tv the trips? Best to boycott gasoline anyway.

When gas reaches $5.00 a gallon, lots of us will be boycotting it.
We're supposed to start boycotting "The Patriot" when gas hits $5/gallon? humm.. OK, I'm in.

So what frequency is Hale looking to move the Patriot too? I'd guess 97.1/97.3 would be the best frequency down FWB way... maybe 107.1/107.5? Or can he only move the frequency up or down 1 or two clicks? (i.e. would the move be limited to say 94.3 or 94.7, of course 94.1 and 94.9 are in use by adjacent market 100kw monsters)

I wonder if Hale is looking for a translator for WTKE-AM 1490 in Milton? I wonder if there's any way to get a 250 watt translator for WTKE 1490 AM in Milton that would be capable of serving Pensacola at the same time? Keep in mind that Milton probably doesn't have anywhere to build a tall tower (military, Helicopters everywhere), he'd probably be limited to "Cell Phone tower height" Also, they way I understand the AM-FM translator rules he'd have to broadcast the translator from WTKE-AM's tower or a tower very close by to use all 250 watts since WTKE 1490 is such a small station?

another rambling rant. I sh

When 98 Surf FM blew parts in the final back whenever ('89, '90--too many dead brain cells to recall exactly) we put the driver for the tube on the air. IIRC, it was about 250w to the antenna..Don't remember the antenna gain, either. It still was listenable in FWB and P'cola. A 250 watt translator can cover quite nicely on a car radio....not much building penetration, however.

Imagine what it would have done if there was no links to the tower and the tower wasn't in the middle of hellwhere. Agree --- that signal nearly made it to Montgomery. I bet Castro used to listen. Now, it seems lifeless and hollow sounding.

Yeah but that was back when the dial wasn't so crowded... when you could easily hear tall stations 200+ miles away Right now I'm about 25 miles from WHEP's 250w translator. All I hear is WPAP and static. The other couple 250w translators I've heard were in hilly terrain and also had limited coverage. I'm wondering if there are any frequencies clear enough for a 250w translator for 1490 in Milton to be listenable in P'cola. I kinda doubt it if the coverage area of the translator needs to match up somewhat with the coverage area of a graveyard AM station. I have no idea if there are exceptions to coverage contours in this AM/FM translator game.
