WFLF Jammer's Tower is having bad karma!

The jammer's towers were struck by lightning, anyone know the location of the tower?

I heard their morning show and they are attempting to move from 94.5 and the fact that Clear Channel's engineers are upset that the signal is being blocked. (his exact words) I don't know who's on it, it was a guy and a woman who's attitude I didn't like.

Them's fighting words. Clear Channel's engineer down in Panama City already took out the OO 92.5 jammer. He was nice enough to take the sheriff with him for their protection. I betcha he hasn't replied to this post because he's on his way to FWB... without the law this time.

He Rob, how far west on Hwy 98 can you pick up 94.5 now? Does it reach the Santa Rosa county line?

I'm kinda broke but do plan on visiting pensacola I BET the signal can be heard by the lighthouse. I'm not planning on spending my entire life here but, would like to visit downtown in the fall or winter. I know there's DIXIE 94.5.

Right now, signal is full strength complete with RDS.

I'd like to see WFLF air shows like RUSH, Coast and Kim Kommando, any plans for this? (or do I need to get a fixed dish and aim it at AMC 7)

-Rob

Rob....we carry Rush....Coast to Coast and Kommando are carried on the Magical stn here (101.1) but you can't get them where you live.....and it's AMC-8...not AMC-7. Funny that Poledo mentioned me going over to FWB....I was over there tonight....Apparently Hale is having transmitter problems with his 94.5 translator (aka jammer) I could pick up WFLF at the Gulfarium tonight when I was in FWB....went over to help WPSM (religion on 91.1) with their sick transmitter....I was only a few feet away from the building that houses the translator....I did notice that 1400 AM was running about 20% modulation....that don't help anything on AM....must be having trouble with that transmitter too.

I know it's one of the AMC birds that carry the starguide chs. Where is Hale's stick located anyway? I don't have an AM antenna due to the fact I live in a dead zone for local reception. I'd need to install a beverage antenna just to pick up WFTW where we go to flea power at night which is effin DUMB. I seriously doubt a 5KW station at 1.260 would do too much damage. Especially when 1.370 is 5KW 24/7.

How can I "DEPEND ON THEM" when we can't hear em..? (I know about the clear AM freq..UGH)

I'm 3 miles from Hurlbert and according to the graph, I'm in the red zone for reception.. my radios, say other wise.

.. but 1370 is highly directional at night. A very easy thing to accomplish on the coast, but it doesn't add much value outside of the Pensacola city limits... and Pensacola's probably small enough to be covered by 1kw ND nights on 1370. 5kw 24/7 just makes them a "real" AM station...

I made up most of that last statement. May be true, may not.

WCOA used to have a killer signal up and down the coast when they were on Weis Lane but when they moved to Michigan Avenue that was the end of their great coverage IMO. The real estate on Weis Lane got expensive and they took the money and moved.

Rob....Starguide has gone except for a couple of smaller networks.....all of the programming now is via XDS and cannot be received on a Starguide....but Starguide can be picked up on the XDS receiver. The receivers are addressed so unauthorized reception in not possible.

The maximum you can run on 1260 is 1kw day and night...it is what is called a Class IV channel...they don't go to flea power at night, the skywave takes over and the interference from other 1260 stations is what you are hearing.

OK, I wanted to give you guys a heads up, now hearing a new station 104.3 THE BAY complete w/ RDS, seems to be a new station with very little static great music but feeling this is just tropo, New Orleans perhaps?

-Rob

Good job, for a cheap indoor antenna (non yagi) it's full strength, very little static except for PC noise.

Ahhhhh! I haven't been able to work the board here much due to a huge new projecty thing I have been doing, but I had to say I am proud and cheered up...

This thread reminds me of years past. The gentle misinterpretations and facts just a bit askew. Is that aluminum foil helping the signal of the new tropobay 3.401 come in in Navarre, Rob? I am guessing that that CCENG is playing signal shell games again...and he REFUSEDED to admit in public that this tower on that new station with RDS has strobey's, so I think he did it on the cheap and left them off.

Rob - call CCENG. Maybe he can put you on his mule and Mapquest you to Pimmsacola. Keep up the education of real radio.

I am worried you're getting staled with boring colors. Why not blue or green of pirple? ???

Send pics to my zmanoftheboard webby thing anytime...or I will start back on the gin.

Screw that. CCENG needs to find the old Big Kahuna's Pink Floyd Laser Light Show and set it up on that tower!

WFLF is a good regular catch in Gulf Shores, AL, so I don't think Pensacola would be a problem. I don't think I've ever heard Dixie south of I-10.

I can't exactly figure out which post you're replying to but you are very right. I'd say WFLF stops the seek button more often than some local stations. The only problem with WFLF-FM in Pensacola is that as soon as you get used to listening.... the signal will fade for a couple days. I've never heard Dixie 94.5 (Jackson, AL?) in Pensacola.

an update - the jammer is back on sounding very crappy like they don't know how to manage audio. Hale needs to learn a thing or two about audio..their morning show has a girl who I can't stand. Talking about how people who have mouths can work.. well lady.. try telling that to my friends who are looking for a job..warning, she packs HEAT and fires them off at the shooting range in ft walton (didn't know we had one)

-Rob

There's a range in FWB? Is it private? Where is it or what is it called? Is it indoors? The only public indoor ranges I know of nearby are in Fairhope and Panama City. The one in Pensacola (on W street) and the one in Gulf Breeze (in Midway) closed down about 10 years ago.
