WFLF Jammer's Tower is having bad karma!

That's what I'd like to know!! I think she shoots in her backyard..

Oh. Well, if she's happy shooting a .22 with a silencer, that's fine. My neighbors live close enough to hear me shooting a BB gun in my back yard. They wouldn't care about me shooting a silenced 10/22 if they didn't have little kids... and my backyard isn't big enough to build a reliable berm.

Thanks for giving me an idea Rob. I've got a 30'x60' warehouse downtown that no one can afford to rent.... I could reinforce those walls with sandbags and make a 40' to 50' indoor pistol range.

Before I get called out on this.....WFLA 94.5 is operating from the backup site located in Panama City (300 ft 3kw ERP) while some work is done on the 1000 ft tower in Port St Joe. This was effective today (Tuesday) around 1230pm and will last 7-10 days based on weather and wind conditions at 1000 ft.

Just thought I would tag this onto this thread rather than start another one.

cceng, where is the jammer's transmitter located? I think it's near the FED EX building downtown, I see three towers there, one of them could fit a low pwr FM translator. One is a cell, the other two not sure of.

I love it how they ID as niceville first (city of license?) than ft walton beach.

Not to sure how a legal id is, W2....get a real call sign.. (city of license) ft walton beach, destin.. ? IF hale has balls, he'd apply for a 3KW license and put freedom on 97.1 or 99.1. god what awful audio, I checked with the other radios and the noise is there. Even in the car..

-Rob

As far as I know they shouldn't be IDing anything to do with Niceville. W233BH is the legal call sign, like it or not, it's legit.

Both the license and the construction permit are for Fort Walton Beach. Are they running the new authorization with 225 watts yet?

I don't see why you obsess over this translator. It's so far out of WFLF's primary coverage area to be completely irrelevant, even if the signal does reach FWB regularly.

For some reason all the big Panama City radio stations are booming into Pensacola today but WFLF-FM is nowhere on the dial. Maybe that means Hale upped the power on the Patriot to a full 3kw class A? I wonder if he'll apply for the W "Fu¢k The World" -FM call letters? Inquiring minds want to know! :) ;) :D ;D  :( 8) ??? ::) :p :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(

Hopefully WFLF will be back at full power at 1000 ft by Friday afternoon if all goes well....the tower crew finished installing the antenna this afternoon and we will sweep it tomorrow midday....IF all goes well I hope to switch back on the big stick mid afternoon....again, IF all goes well.

The Jammer is off the air once again but, 1.400 is loud and clear at least 'till sunset.

Hale.. please get your act together (wonder if we can report the downtime to the FCC cause I know he has to & file a complaint for crappy audio (sarcastic grin) .. so much for us having an FM talker here in the middle of nowhere)

Considering that Hell hasn't been taken down when he "had" hold of the big sticks, I doubt the FCC or any other agency with three letters will waste their time fighting a station with no signal.

CCENG - Rob-42 and I need to know the status of the strobey's. Who cares about anything else like quality of signal.

Someday, when I have the extra money, I'd like to see just how far 1.400 goes. It's daytime signal packs a punch. I bet it can be heard till you reach the 3 mile bge.

I can hear 1050 just as clear also, however, mexico creeps in even around noon. Not too sure when and where THAT station is, nor the power output, probably 50KW.

Radio Reloj can be heard also. Lots of Cuba AM stations come in down here even at noon. and this is just a standard car radio.

1400 doesn't get anywhere near the 3 mile bridge (Pensacola Bay version)... I doubt it reaches Juana's Pagoda. Under it's last owners it didn't reach the west side of the Hurlburt Field gate on Hwy 98... maybe it reaches the Santa Rosa county line now.... maybe.

would that be XEG Monterrey? at one time, they were running 100kw...think they're "just" 50kw now

Is there a list of Mexican AM stations? I think that's it, thought it was M. City

1050 WJSB Crestview. Has a better than average signal for AMs in this area. I think they are in the 5kw-10kw range, daytime only. I'm too lazy to look it up. I never noticed any reception improvement when WAAZ (FM on a WJSB tower) went from 25kw to 50kw to 100kw. Just goes to show how important tower height is... even from the city closest to the highest point in Florida (hey, I learned something from high school geography class! go Florida public schools!)

For years WJSB operated with 5kw-NDD. It now operates with 3.1kw-NDD from the WAAZ tower. Apparently WJSB operated from a shorter tower at one time and when it moved to the taller FM tower, a power reduction was required. However, I'm not sure how long ago that change was implemented.

Don't know about the signal change but apparently the guy (Wolfe) & girl (Andi) are out. And from what the insiders say it wasn't a very happy ending.

Anyone that has read this bored for years will know that there never is a happy ending. NEVER! Pathetic that it has to be that way. No excuses for constant "issues" of integrity.

Hence why the dead air this morning.. must be nice having money to piss off for a dead FM carrier.

Ha. 225 watts... I have light bulbs that burn more electricity than that.. and no, I'm not growing pot.
