WFME STA

At least the WPAT site has possibilities. But first it has to not have an unseen interference problem with a neighbor as Goddard School presented at the East Orange site. A brief test at 10 KW nondirectional would uncover this before WFME spent the money on new directional antenna equipment. WFME could apply for a variance if the tower height is almost but not quite legal. Or they could downgrade if 10 KW works out but 50 KW does not.

I am about 3 miles away from the transmitter. I am getting a good signal with some splatter on 1550 and 1570, but not as much as I had expected. I noticed that no top of the hour ID was given at either 7pm or 8pm. Perhaps, WFME is at the testing phase.

Kevin Tekel, a respected poster from the "other" New York board says this is using the diplex equipment for 1530 WJDM and can only take 10 kw.

Picked up WFME last night quite nicely an hour north of Boston. A little fading every now and then but very listenable. Times included 11 PM 10/30 and 6 AM 10/31.

I did get them during their brief 10 KW operation from East Orange but last night was better.

Once they get the directional pattern going, Boston will likely receive the same or more signal strength as I got.

So as far as you can determine they're still at 1KW for now?

I think they are up to 10KW now. I could not get them on or about their reported return to air date.
I think so, too. The signal readings are now higher on 1560 WFME than both 930 WPAT and 1430 WNSW, which also transmit from Clifton, NJ. That was not the case when WFME first returned to the air.

I’m not seeing where, exactly, the radio shown in the pictures is displaying the signal strength. Can you point it out for me, Michael?
BTW, that Qodosen radio is quite a piece of work, from an engineering point of view.

its those upper right two numbers.. dbuv and SNR

Around 0150 EDT last night here in central Ontario Canada I was hearing WFME coming in poor to fair but it was clearly them, as I heard the strains of a famous hymn (that I can't quite remember the name of) being played on classical guitar. This was just on my home stereo setup with a simple directional AM antenna. It didn't take long for them to fade and then the ever-present WGLB to predominate with their own fade ins and out.

I would have to think that WFME is now at 10kW as this is the first time I have definitely heard them since last spring and I don't think I was getting them at all during the recent 1kW phase. This is presuming that they have indeed switched up to 10kW and haven't just done something else with their 1kW signal.
