I will
I'm waiting
Well, I'm sure that Clear Channel can let Mr. Joyner run his business on 101.7 here in Boston. Otherwise, it's a change to Mia 1430.Ciao9999 said:Tom Joyner is a radio One property. More likely Boston will finally get the Michael Baesden show.blackgold said:I'll tell ya what's gonna happen to it: Urban A.C. during the day and hip hop from 6 until 2 a.m, followed by gospel music all night and all day Sundays.
And from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Tom Joyner will be back on the air.
"Oh! Oh! Oh!
It's The Tom Joyner Morning Show!"
Again!

As others have said, Clear Channel has invested alot into the format with little return. An FM counterpart could pose as a real threat to 96.9 and WRKO.

OK, Clear Channel wants to get sports on Hartford FM so it moves dinky-signal WPKX Enfield into Hartford, bumps country off 97.9 and turns the station into WUCS, which serves Hartford proper and northern suburbs just fine but disappears quickly once you go west, south or east. Now it wants to get its talk lineup on Boston FM so it makes Mindich a golden-parachute offer for his Lynn powerhouse, kicks out the modern/alt rock and puts talk on a signal that serves Boston proper and northern suburbs just fine but disappears quickly west and south. (You'll have to ask the fish about the signal to the east.) If you're going to commit to FM with sports and talk, shouldn't you put them on a competitive signal?

It is not impossible that CC will actually put the Jammin' format on 101.7, and use the great big 94.5 for an all-talk format.
Yes, I know Jammin has big numbers. But CC might be willing to take the hit in exchange for the potential of a prime suburban signal for Rush, etc, (94.5) while retaining an urban and semi-urban close-in suburban coverage for the Jammin' format (101.7).
