WFRL 1570 Freeport Changes

I too am wondering what happened to Jeff Allen. Someone told me he's doing a talk show up in Canada?

Is this true, or could they be confused with another Jeff Allen.

Jim Douglas is EVERYTHING, that is wrong with radio. A jock that has no personality, and the adlib skills of a new born monkey. Hearing him back on the radio in Freeport is PERFECT. Dead town, dead stick, dead talent.

Awwww...come on! You are being a little tough on JD the DJ. Lets look at his track record:
Never worked outside of Freeport/Monroe (with the exception of a few months in Iowa almost 30 years ago and he couldn't make it and had to run home to his parents...and did part-time in Rockford for only a handful of shifts)...and was the Milk Manager at the Lena Grocery Store before being brought on board by EZ....oh and I almost forgot...he cuts hair. ;D

My problem with the now unlistenable 1570am is a problem I have with all radio statons who buy out
the competition. Big Radio stopped streaming on the net prob because it's costly and they figured why bother, we own everything.
There is no listener involvement....NONE! And they run Wisconsin news and that horrible shopping show down everyone's
throat's! No One is listening, I hear they go days without anyone calling. It's a shame the corrupt FCC allows this to happen, but hey, as long as they get they're fees you won't hear them complain.

C'mon now Short waiver.

Don't hate the shopping shows, I have already purchased your Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, birthday, and anniversary gifts courtesy of these great radio shows. The bargains are terrific, the show is highly entertaining, plus I got a free fish towel - I just can't get enough. I especially like it when the hosts talk at the same time and you don't really know what is going on.

I hope someday soon they will go to 24 hours of straight shopping show goodness.

I think I hear both Sirius and XM calling!

Instead of bitching and moaning about stuff on a message board. How about you guys actually do something about it? Hey, here's a great idea! Get Sirius and XM! I'm sure Scott Thompson would have no problem with that.

Also, peteandrepeat, you seem to know alot about the shopping shows. If you don't like it so much why don't you just listen to a different station, there are plenty of them out there. I don't think every radio station your radio gets is a Big Radio station.

I already have a satellite radio, but thanks for the suggestion.

I will continue to enjoy the hundreds of musical selections on my XM radio that have nothing to do with BIG radio.

I do have to say I applaude you having an XM radio. I myself have a Sirius radio and I think the music selection is better than any of the BIG radio stations, the only reason I listened to K92 that morning (see "New WFPS morning show" post) was because I got a new car and hadn't transfered over the radio yet. I ONLY listen to my Sirius radio.

I can see how you may think I am "defending" the shopping shows and/or BIG radio. Personally I hate both shopping shows. I think that they are the worst thing to happen to radio. It is so god damn boring to listen to. And I only "defend" BIG radio and these shopping shows because I am so sick of reading nothing but "slams" on this message board. I prefer to talk about the postives in radio, not the negatives all the time.

And by the way Stan, keep up the good work.

If I can ask, what "good work" have I done? Do you have me confused with someone else, perhaps?
