It is a great internet oldies station.
I love 98.3 as well, I carried them just almost to Macon last week, most all of Savannah's signal's are massive.
You can hear them all the way down thru Jacksonville usually, with that open 98.3 frequency. In the Charleston area, even with a first-adjacent at 98.1, you can still hear them about half the time (with the distance of the transmitter).
Oh, they have always had a great signal. Really crisp and clear with great channel separation. I use the signal as a benchmark when I'm fiddling with my setup. Because of that great big coverage area, 98.3 is a dandy "road station," too.
I've mentioned it on this forum somewhere before, but I've gotten the signal all the way from North Charleston to below Jacksonville on I-95. In Jax I think it's the best Savannah signal (duh, they're pretty far south).
