Why can't Dublin have a station like this? One of our stations should change to oldies. 92.7 WKKZ plays pretty much the same as 98.1 WELT. Why 2 top 40 stations?

WELT is not top 40, it's hot ac. I have to give WELT some credit and recognize their professional sound (80% of the time). WKKZ is not a top 40 station either but good luck in defining what their format actually is. For that, we can get some input from others but artist that WKKZ plays includes Black Eye Peas, REO Speedwagon, Nickelback, John Mayer, and even coldplay and phoenix. I almost want to say this is an A/C/AAA hybrid. I have NEVER heard artist like Phoenix on any station other than alternative and adult album alternative stations.

So we have a few ideas for Dublin. Number one; We have 107.9 The Buzz which is a classic rock station which has wanted to go in the mainstream rock arena playing anything from classic rock to modern rock. I'm not positive but I don't think the buzz wants to do this until they can get their antenna fixed. As you may be aware, 107.9 has been running at 40% power for over two years now. The station is owned by the same people that own Y96 and we both know where the money goes for this company.

Dublin is located 50 miles southeast of Macon. The Macon DMA includes a few counties north of Macon but mostly focuses to areas east and south of Macon. The reason is because of the Atlanta dominance to the north. I don't understand why we can't get a full power 100k watt station out of Dublin that would clearly cover all of the Macon area and offer something different. Too many "classic hits" and "country" stations to go around.

I know we are talking about Dublin here but the same could be said about Statesboro. Savannah sits on the coast so east of Savannah is nothing but ocean while the rest of Savannah's DMA covers all the way out to Emanual and Wheeler counties. Why we can't have a 100k watt station go up around Statesboro or Claxton to cover all of Savannah down to Brunswick and west to Dublin is beyond me. Once you pass Statesboro going west on 16, good radio is hard to find until you get pass Dublin on interstate 16 going west. That little area between Statesboro and Dublin is starving for good radio. I'm learning though that in these more rural areas, it's not about the format of the music that makes the station but instead, it's the local programming. That's why many of the stations have such outdated music. The only exception would be WELT which has a surprisingly fresh sound (though some of the more CHR fans would prefer to see it more dance than AC oriented).

I mainly meant that I have heard some of the same songs on both stations. Also to me it sounds the same. And WELT does sound good and has a good signal. The signal is better toward Macon as long as you stay on I-16. But going East to Savannah 98.3 will try to break the signal up.

What about 99.3? nothing there just static.

I had a fealing there was somthing wrong with WDBN. I can get it in the car pretty good most of the time. My portable radio can not get it. My home stereo connected to the outside antenna gets it as good or better than in the car. But with WDBN being 25,000 whatts I should get it on my portable. What is there problem? They seem to have so many problems with 2 of their stations WDBN and WMCG.
But back to the reply 99.3 what did you mean? You mean 99.3 from Pembroke? It's not even on the air. I have an outside antenna that is directional and when I turn it to Savannah nothing comes in on 99.3.

No one on this board has a clue what is going on with 99.3 except for what the FCC says which is simply the CP. WXRS 100.5 is another. Long standing CP says they are to move to Portal and go up 50K watts which would take the station easily from Soperton exit on I16 to Savannah. Nothing is known about this. I've heard it's money but stations lower on the money poll are making big moves just fine so not sure what the deal Is with this one. Could be a viable station for the Statesboro, Hinesville, Vidalia area. Unless its going to be another country or religious station. This part of Southeast Georgia Is saturated with such stuff.

See this

radio-locator no longer shows a CP for WXRS. I have a hard time getting them even with the outside antenna. There is also a new station in Dublin on 103.1 WDBG. Radio-locator shows it off the air but it's not off the air. It is owned by radio jones, same ones who own WXRS WELT etc.

With regards to WBAW- This CP you posted from radio-info is the same CP that has been renewed time and time again. Nothing has materialized out of this. Note the expiration date will be in APril. Guess what? They will once again renew it and it will sit there.

The first question (main question) is when will this radio station go up. The second question is WHAT will this radio station be. I'm going to be pissed if its yet another religious radio station on such a perfect signal for southeast Georgia. Still, looking at the companies profile, that is what seems to be their game.
