Why can't Dublin have a station like this? One of our stations should change to oldies. 92.7 WKKZ plays pretty much the same as 98.1 WELT. Why 2 top 40 stations?

Savannah sits on the coast so east of Savannah is nothing but ocean while the rest of Savannah's DMA covers all the way out to Emanual and Wheeler counties. Why we can't have a 100k watt station go up around Statesboro or Claxton to cover all of Savannah down to Brunswick and west to Dublin is beyond me. Once you pass Statesboro going west on 16, good radio is hard to find until you get pass Dublin on interstate 16 going west. That little area between Statesboro and Dublin is starving for good radio. I'm learning though that in these more rural areas, it's not about the format of the music that makes the station but instead, it's the local programming. That's why many of the stations have such outdated music. The only exception would be WELT which has a surprisingly fresh sound (though some of the more CHR fans would prefer to see it more dance than AC oriented).

Long standing CP says they are to move to Portal and go up 50K watts which would take the station easily from Soperton exit on I16 to Savannah. Nothing is known about this. I've heard it's money but stations lower on the money poll are making big moves just fine so not sure what the deal Is with this one. Could be a viable station for the Statesboro, Hinesville, Vidalia area. Unless its going to be another country or religious station. This part of Southeast Georgia Is saturated with such stuff.
