WGST looking for co-host in the morning

Going to full power earlier won't help much. Winter AM DX splatters the signal all over the place. Frankly 640 is just hopeless except perhaps between 9 a and 4 p in Winter.

The FCC has informed stations they can use October sunrise/sunset patterns through the first week of November, until the switch back to Standard Time on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Maybe so, but either WGST didn't get the info, or they chose not to exercise that option - which is most likely the case because their computer is set on standard time all year long with monthly times for power changes programmed into it.

I engineer several AM stations and I have seen nothing from the FCC telling stations they may operate at different hours for the first week of November. My Heathkit XJ-1's are all set for the legal operating times.....just like WGST.
That would be a lot of interference for a whole week to a lot of stations.
I wouldn't think the FCC would want to open that Pandora's box......

At 7:45 today WGST was at full power and 790 or 680 did not go to full power.

From what the above poster has observed, the extension of DST is confusing some operations.

The engineers have set the computer that controls daily power changes to EST all year just to make it easier on them and the computer. Makes sense; just program the computer one hour earlier during EDT and don't change it.

Even a Commodore 64 could run that.
