WGST needs to put David Paul in its line up

Am I the only one who has figured out Bo is Dave Paul? David please give it a rest. It's really sad that you have to resort to posting on Radio-info for yet another chance to CRASH and BURN.. Who can forget your last 2 minutes of radio brilliance. Really David, this is getting tired. I actually laughed out loud when you tried the GST Memo thing a few months back. Bo (David) do you really think this is going to work? Do you really think GST would hire you? They are desperate, but you wouldn't get the job if you paid them 50k an hour for airtime. You are about as close to getting that job as Bill Cambell is to getting probation.
I remember your old days at WSB David, and you did have some good shows. But as I recall it was Jewels who really gave the show some kick. After he/she left, you were stuck with the same ole pre-produced, satellite fed, lame radio bits and the show sucked. Sure, you can get higher ratings at GST than Denny but so could a barking dog. David,(Bo) do you really think you can hold an audience for more than 1 month after the initial curiosity has worn off. Your "red sock Friday's" will only get you so far, at some point listeners will want to talk about issues. At best, you are a radio side show, good for 15 minutes of fun but you are not a headliner. Stick to the occasional Regular Guys call in and selling used cars. Sorry Dude, its just the truth.

Phonejock, It sounds like you were a major fan of the David Paul show. You know the cast of characters and the skits. You have an opinion of the good shows and the bad ones. Here it is, a dozen years later, and you still recall them. That is the ultimate complement and yet you insult the man. The guy sure left an impression with you didn't he? You should be thanking the guy. Maybe it was a love hate relationship. I don't think GST will ever give David Paul a job either. GST only hires boring people. I hope people will remember me 10 years down the road. Go David Paul.

I remember the WSB days as well. There were a lot of good shows. I agree with the previous post. Even people who say they don’t like him still remember the bits. I’ll bet they would listen to a new version of “off the wall” as well.

There are very few personalities who can be consistently entertaining on the radio and David Paul is one of them.

Do you really want to know why I remember red sock Friday? It was when I first moved to Atlanta and I heard this weird southern guy doing what I thought what must be his last show. Low and Behold it was David Paul. I wondered if that show was what "passed" in the south for talk radio. .It was simply horrible and what stood out was that tired bit about red sock Fridays. . I was forced to listen to WSB since my employer at the time kept it on WSB day and night.

So, Yes I remember David Paul's lame bits. Does it make me a fan? I think not. I also remember Gary McKee doing his show from a billboard for 2 months. Was that great radio too? Or what about that time Ray D Aitor called in to Ludlow Porch. .Wow. I guess I am a closet Ludlow fan too. Give it a rest.

Perhaps considered an average talent at best, but GST is below average on a good day. I can't even get through the Kimmer anymore (having switched to Buck and Kincade) after listening for years. There's no doubt that GST is in dire need of a makeover, and David Paul is probably not the answer, but he would be a lot more entertaining than Denny Schafer could ever be.

After hearing the guest hosts on GST this week, I’m more convinced than ever that they do in fact need to put David Paul in their lineup.

I read this post and came up with a few conclusions: David Paul is remembered fondly by some and others hate his guts. I decided to run a poll at my workplace. I asked 8 fellow employees if they ever heard David Paul on WSB. I never heard the guy on his WSB show. Two of my fellow employees caught his show and seemed to enjoy it. That is a 25 percent name recognition. Not to bad. The problem is that Bloomquist is a puppet for Clear Channel. He has no power to take a chance with a David Paul. His job is to make sure the jingles and the intros and the promos are good. That is his job function. David Paul is not an option that Bloomquist has. He just does what the puppet master commands him to do.

That’s a shame. He had a creative show on WSB, and it seems that he could really help improve GST now.

Did anyone hear the fill in today for Kim Peterson? It was embarrassingly bad. It was so bad I felt sorry for the guy. There were gaps of dead air. His opinions were that of a 8th grader. WGST, at least make an attempt. Try to put a personality in there that actually has a personality. It was so bad I had to listen. Maybe that is GST's idea.

Don't feel sorry for him. He's as [EDIT] off air as he is on air. I used to work with this guy, many many many years ago, when he was a music jock in another market, and he was a [EDIT] of the first magnitude, even just walking down the hall.

As much as I think Jimmy Baron is a [EDIT] who lucked into the 99X gig, I actually believe Jimmy would've been more entertaining than ol' JD Wells.

btw, is he live here in town, or doing the show from home base Las Vegas?

LOL at JBaxter, very funny. .

You guys are right JD Wells blows and Eric seemed like a Boortz wanna be. I did enjoy Eric better than Wells. At least EVH did some homework and had those crazy cuts from some war protesters. That was pretty good stuff.

But, he took the old Boortz line about N.Korea and Jimmy Carter. It was painfully obvious he really does not know the history and just recited what he's heard on Boortz's show. The guy should really do his homework before he speaks. Anyway, he is not half as good as Pete Davis or Wayne imho.

I'm so tired of every FM jock thinking they have what it takes to do interesting, compelling talk radio. Its so easy to do 4 minutes and play 3 songs. But to actually hold an audience for more than 10 minutes takes real talent. I read in Jimmy Barons blog that he now realizes how hard it is to do talk. Duh. .Maybe his weekends in San Fran have taught him a thing or two. I would have loved to hear him this week..


At this point I'm almost willing to agree with Bo (who really is David Paul) that they should give David a chance. I would listen just to see how long he would stay on the air. 10 minutes? half hour?? we could start a pool.

Poor David Paul. I am sure he was a good host at one time. Then this unfortunate thing happened. Now we all have fun at his expence. We have all had bad days and I am sure David had his reasons. I wish him well and I think GST should give him another shot. We all deserve a 2nd chance and David is no exception. Please put me down for 18 minutes.
