Dave Ramsey is now on 3 to 7. Could this all be a stunt?? Maybe 105.3FM goes talk?? ??? ??? ???

There was a conflict with the Levin and Ramsey times on the WGST site up until just a moment ago. Looks like those that hate The Kimmer just got their wish?

With a syndicated news show, will the WGST news department be pruned next?

. . . I cannot wait till Bloomquist is forced to list his house for sale . . . Regardless, my AM radio listening habits have been drastically changed.

WGST is very close to becoming a station where 165 hours out of 168 in week are syndicated, or 166 when Rhonda Duffy runs a tape on Sunday mornings..... :-\ :-\ :-\

I always thought their call letters stood for "We've Got Syndicated Talk".

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Starting to look a little like something may be in the works for 105.3. That would certainly solve the issue of the Braves. I think it's foolish though for C.C. Atlanta to spend 2 years promoting the Braves on 96rock, and then moving them in the 3rd year of their 3 year contract, unless they just plan on giving up the rights at the end of the 2007 season. That would be too bad, I like the Braves on FM

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

I don't see 105.3 going talk when it failed previously. Different talk format...maybe, but doubtful.

If you are thinking simulcast with 640, then maybe. But again, this was done before.

Rodney's blog is suggesting Kimmer is out:
http://www.accessatlanta.com/blogs/...otalk/entries/2006/11/21/1121_is_the_kim.html

Now the move of Ramsey to 640 makes a little more sense; at the time of his move he wasn't on much because of the Braves. Perhaps his show was promised a better time slot of 3-7pm, no longer being interrupted by the Braves.

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

If I were making the decisions at Clear Channel Atlanta, I'd want the Braves off 96.1so I could focus solely on the music programming and new format. To facilitate this, I'd simulcast 640 and 105.3 or do some sort of talk on 105.3 so I could stick the Braves there.

I thought the Braves deal was 5 years....

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

If they wanted all syndicated, why not make the mothership happy and put Glenn Beck on 9-noon and move the godawful, belongs back on WSPD Denny Radio into AMD. Nobody's listening anyway. Beck's ratings weren't that bad against Boortz (low 3s in demo?)

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Even if someone else picks up the Braves after '07, they'd still be on FM. The days of baseball on big AM blowtorches are over. If Cox did put them back on WSB, there'd still be an FM simulcast (probably 99X).

But, dammit, I hope they don't move 640's mess to 105.3. It's the only decent rock station I get. The WSJ show in AM drive seems to hint at 640 taking more of a business slant, but Atlanta already has a business talker that no one listens to...Maybe they'll go for regional Mexican on AM instead of FM?

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Interesting to me that that majority of the comments on this blog over the past few years is to blow up WGST and start from scratch. Now that management in doing just that, it's amazing to me the people are now calling them idiots for doing what they've been asking them to do all along. ???

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

How is this starting from scratch? Same news/talk format with national and local news, Rush, Braves, etc., etc. Just moving a few deck chairs every few months. A few more chairs moved today, but that's it

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Don't know if getting rid of the all of your local talent isn't considered starting over, I don't know what is. No way they could afford to bring in new, unknown talent and expect to compete with WSB. I think this is the eqivalent of waving the white flag.

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Will Kimmer be on the air today? Web site says it's now Ramsey...did Kimmer bid farewell yesterday? If he did I missed it.

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Doesn't appear to be expected (well, maybe not today and all in one shot) - looks like they just cleaned house today...The King gone, Denny gone, Kimmer gone, etc.

I think in some respects they ALL knew it was just around the corner. They had to...we did.

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

Not only did the Democrats take the House and Senate, it looks like we killed WGST too. C'mon Dems let's work together and get rid of Rush too.

I was one of Kimmer's biggest bashers and I have a feeling of schadenfreude about this. I hope his cancer is cured and he lives a long life where he gets to think about all the hateful things he said over the years.

As for the King, he will probably land on his feet somewhere. Denny, I hear Dayton calling your name, go back, now!

I was only kidding when I posted this, but it's true as Mike McConnell's syndicated show replaces Denny Schaffer.

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

I really didn't think Denny was all that bad. The Kimmer on the other hand...

Re: WGST - The Changes Are Starting?

They could've at least let him say goodbye
