WGST

I find it rather fascinating that Ramsey would be placed at 3-6PM.

Is it just me, or does this show seem more like a night time or weekend show?
Anyway, that's just my opinion. Not really my cup of day time tea.

Hopefully WGST will do more local talk shows, and hopefully some hosts will deliver the variety talk style rather than just multiple hosts doing constant, overplayed political and controversial news stories all day.
Putting (almost) anything on WGST at night is essentially spiking it, for the reason I mentioned above. See Dr. Laura--when Premiere/CC wrested her away from WSB (and ratings that rivaled Rush and Boortz, despite being opposite Rush IIRC), she was a miserable failure on WGST during PM drive and into the night.

I wonder who all listens to Kook To Kook AM on WGST. It seems like it would be easier to pick it up on a clear channel Clear Channel station than WGST.

I'd love to see WGST bring back Ralph from Ben Hill, or someone like him. He was always a nice contrast to Boortz and Rush, even if you didn't agree with him, and his show was entertaining. And he was a good fit for WGST's low night power, as he had strong appeal to ITP audiences.

With Dr. Laura calling it quits at the end of the year, is Dave Ramsey headed to WCFO?
That seems to be the likely spot, since Ramsey seems to be persona non grata over at Salem (e.g., 920 WGKA). Then again, one or both of them could swallow hard and put him on 920.

As noted, Ramsey is "persona non grata" at Salem because his operation refused to pay for airtime.

It was good to hear The Kimmer back on last night. I miss that guy! He was on with Denny Shaffer on 920. Wish they'd move Denny to days so I could listen to him more - at least early evening...does Hugh Hewitt do anything but talk about California and bloggers in Minnesota?

If WGST is trying to be local in AM and PM, that 640 signal WILL NOT WORK. I doubt they would make any investment for programming exclusively on that signal which is terrible in parts of mornings and afternoons.

I can see WGST at 105.3 or maybe 96.1. Not 96.7 or 105.7. I say plug it in to the 105.3 since Patron isn't doing that well. And I don't know if I'd even use "WGST" anymore; use something like "The Big Talker" or "Rush Radio." The "WGST" brand is too tarnished.

I'd have to agree. "Rush Radio 96.1" (or whatever) that just happens to simulcast on 640? That's the ticket.

I wonder if they'll wait to put the thing on FM, and make any branding change, until Rusty starts...and it's interesting that Ramsey is apparently forcing them to carry the show in PMD during (at least part of) that 90 day window, instead of just asking to clear the spots.

Yep, emphasize them FM. Heck, I don't think I would even mention WGST or 640 except for the legal ID.

96.1 has made changes to their morning show, so I'm counting a simulcast on 96.1 out, like it was ever really likely...96.7 and 105.7 just rebranded, so they aren't going anywhere, Bull seems safe - if (hopefully, WHEN) Clear sticks the 640 programming on FM, it will be 105.3/WBZY. Makes the most sense. 105.3 in mono would cover the market much better than the 640 overall. They should have already had it on FM before they start making any programming changes. They will go nowhere until they do that.

If WGST goes to FM before January 1st:

One of the downfalls for me moving from west to east coast:
I have to wait until 1am to hear coast to coast instead of the convenient 10pm.

One of the benefits:
I'll no longer have to listen on an A.M. radio placed "far away" from any turned on light, computer, or tv..etc in the room.

Coast to Coast has at least one or two good shows a week (depending, of course, on which topics you enjoy).

WGST would be great on FM. Hopefully it will happen with new, intriguing shows and talent.
