WGVC Greenville to flip this week

WGVC 106.3 new format will take place at 6am Thursday. from the walk website.

Just got a phone call from an agency friend. Sometime today, Entercom told her, they decided they aren't ready and are going to have to delay the launch by a full day! What kind of effd up operation is that? Wouldn't you think they'd get their ducks in a row before they started the countdown? They haven't yet reset the countdown clock on their website. Oh, man. This could be ugly.

What a joke! In Greensboro they cut the countdown a day short, this is even crazier...I don't know what to think now. WHY didn't they just leave 106.3 as it was when they got it from Barnstable!

Too lowbrow for them. Too obvious. They will give all the usual reasons. The demo is too old, etc. But there is no way you can convince me that the billing was higher on Walk than on Oldies and it will be lower still on The Voice or whatever it is they are planning to call this fiasco. They are trying to be avant garde, so they tried to convince themselves that they'd broken new ground with The Walk, and now they are trying to be the first success with Greenstone Media. How fitting that Greenstone is said to be leasing unused New York City studios and satellite time from Piquant, LLC (aka Air America)!

Yeah...I remember reading on here a while back that in 2004 Oldies billed something like 1.6 million and The Walk (on the 103s) 400k. The 12+ ratings for the Walk in the last book were nearly 50% less than Oldies in its last full book (Summer 05). Sad.

I think they would do better with 24 hour fart sounds than with the "Chick-Talk" format! They would do better than a 0.1 share that they will get from an AIR AMERICA CLONE! I pray that it is "JACK" or Classic hits!! :p

This is not what I hoped to find out about this station.
My whole family...even my kids ages 16, 13, 10, and 7 LOVED The Walk. Every radio I own is set to 106.3

Tons of my friends listen to it!!

This new format already isn't up to par... they flipped without even a hint to the dedicated WALK fans... they were on in the AM on my drive to work, and gone in the PM when I drove home. Their countdown went from less than 24 hours to back up and add another day to the countdown, and their website STILL said Thurs. at 6AM would be the unveiling of the new format... it still said that just a few minutes before I began this comment, ... and it's now Thurs. afternoon!

...And the countdown quotes are really a bit entertaining, but must they mention words like test**les and master***ion? Come on, now, my kids were listening sometimes. Where did these quotes come from? ...certainly NOT from the integrity we were hearing on the WALK!!

It won't take a skinny minute for me, my friends, and family to change our dials away from 106.3 if a chicktalk format begins!

I'd like to know how long ago the flip was decided, and why it wasn't announced to WALK fans. If it was done this way to keep it secret, then why? After all, if there aren't too many of us, hardly anyone would've known, right???

I think if a chicktalk station is going to begin, they just wanted to try to keep us hoping, and instead they'll be making us angry
