From GATOR to uhhhh Lucky Dog? WTF?! I hope this is a stunt. Lucky may be a stunt, as in St. Patricks Day coming up? (Luck of the Irish, etc) I doubt it though, just was hoping. GATOR was a better branding for a station at the beach. Man oh man.

I'm not up there right now (will be in about five days though ;D)

Are they calling themselves the "Lucky Dog"? Sounds kind of dumb, but it might work...

Are they playing the same old stuff?

Yeah...I don't get it either. Maybe its a stunt. Just sounds too re-re to keep.

"Lucky Dog" sounds like a contest type thing. I mean "Big Dog", "Bad Dog", "Rabid Dog", "Salty Dog" or even just "The Dog" sound far superior.

"GATOR was a better branding for a station at the beach"

Remember guys, they are in Savannah now, not at the beach.

One of their positioners stated "We'll deep fry *anything* once...[deep fryer sound effect]...Hey, it's a Southern thing!...Lucky Dog Country 106.9!"

::)

I have no clue what Triad's thinking here but then that's the same train of thinking that's plagued Cumulus's insipid insistence on keeping the same format at Z102 year after ratings-losing year.

Allaccess.com says the PD will host mornings w/ Laura Anderson w/ no mention of Mike Miller in the lineup. Anyone know what happened to him?

HAAAAAA I love this..may I steal it?

"We'll deep fry *anything* once...[deep fryer sound effect]...Hey, it's a Southern thing!...Lucky Dog Country 106.9!"

Now..how to regionalize this..

Southern California:

"We'll saute *anything* in Canola Oil and coat it in organic sesame seeds once...."

New England:

"We'll boil *anything* that screams when you plunge it into hot water once...."

Oh this has SUCH possibilities!

thanx!

Well being GATOR in a city that HATES the Gators was never a good thing.

This is true...not brilliant thinking on their part

But still, is this really any better???

Anyhow, I will see all my Savannah amigos on Sat. I'll be the drunk guy with a to-go cup in my hand of Moon River's hard cider and a flask of Jager in my back pocket.

Wait a sec., isn't that 90% of the people in Savannah on St. Patrick's?

At least the ones downtown it is. I'm 25, by the way, and to quote the Alice In Chains song, "I Stay Away". At the place where I worked in 2002, several of my new-to-Savannah co-workers (SCAD students) wanted to know why I wasn't/didn't want to go downtown on St. Patrick's Day. I told them that, having lived here almost all of my life and having been down there myself a few times, it's not worth the hassle. If I really want to have that experience, I'll just wander into a crowded movie theater lobby where there's no room whatsoever to move, then go buy a six pack and pour it on my shoes. It'll have the same effect and be alot cheaper.

I'm up there for two reasons:

A) A perfectly good excuse to drink and create mayhem in the streets
B) Meeting a bunch of good friends I made last year during my all-too brief life in the coastal empire.

Last year, I partied from 10am-4am, slept till 11, and dragged my hungover tail to work in Brunswick the next day. Luckily this year, I'll be sleeping off my hangover on the train back to Orlando. ;D

But I did notice most of the natives did not like St. Patty's, which is understandable. The Savannah of St Patricks Day is not the Savannah of the rest of the year. Even I, who normally am a tame human being, turn into a ravenous, crazy, swill-drinking fool on March 17th. It's just that one day to let loose...even if you wind up spilling half the alcohol you buy on yourself!

Anyway, what does this have to do with radio? Ah yes, maybe this year I'll have the guts to rip off the banners off the Adventure Radio concert stage on City Market to add to my radio memorabilia collection.

Hey, they have a ROCK 106.1 float in the parade this year! You could jump on that and start dancing.

The Savannah Derby Devils, our roller derby team, has a float also. Maybe if you play your cards right, you might get a number from one of the girls? ;D

Wait a minute! This is a radio board! Let me see...um...um.....cume...P1....positioner....AQH.....rebranding...format flip....format

There! That ought to do it! ;D

As I understand it, Mike is now the Production Director and does mid-days on 107.
