what a waste!

What a waste of airtime on saturday night when one of the local news networks ran a special on the blizzard of 96. Oh, It's 10 years later. Guess what? we dont care! We dont like snow and would rather not reminisce about such bleak times. Im sorry you idiot newscasters get off on these things but my friends and I dont. What exactly was the point of this special?

Are you talking about the NBC Weather Plus special with Al Roker, which appeared on many NBC stations this past Saturday at 7PM ET.
That was about blizzards in general, not any one in particular.
______________

Well, still. I could give a damn about blizzards! Only the ones they sell at DQ.

Well in NYC we had the Al Roker special on WNBC and Sam "I am not a meterologist" Champion on WABC with a winter weather special on Saturday night. Can you top that?
______________

I didnt like the special but REALLY LOVE to reminisce on the blizzard of 1996 and other events because I am one of those who LOVES the cold and snow. And I know there is a large group of people behind me.

People who like snow are weirdos. Once I get my drivers license I'll be in Florida. I attempted AZ but learned the hard way that if you dont hve a license you wont survive. Valley Metro is the worst transit system in America. And I realized Phoenix is'nt that great otherwise. It's Florida baby! Or maybe Texas.

I love it when kids have this silly nonsense embetted in their pea-sized brain "once I get my license, I'll be in Florida" OR "Once I turn 18, I'm moving to Florida." Give me a break. Good luck trying to afford it on your salary from Mickey D's flipping burgers.

It's wonderful to dream about having a home in Florida or Arizona or someplace else but "home," but it's very expensive...and I highly doubt anyone in their right mind would rent an apartment to an 18-year old who just left home and doesn't even have a job yet in their new place of residence. Also, good luck trying to get an apartment with no credit history.

Ahh...the blizzard of '96...

Ahh...good times, good times...three straight days of no school(I was 14), and we never made it up! It was also the only time I have ever been in a "natural disaster" . We got three feet of snow, it was such a mess...which is why I was so happy when my family moved back west...

Look pal. Im not 18. I admit Im an idiot for not having a license at 37 but it's the bed I made and Im changing the situation. I have credit, and I have money. Somebody on this board knows the facts. Im far from broke!

I assumed that you were just some kid. I'm sorry that I jumped to conclusion. Good luck at getting the license and changing your life around in the correct direction.

Weirdos? Its funny you who love the warmth I see as weirdos. I think why could anyone like this 50* stuff in Jan.? Thats alright, looks like Feb. could be A LOT of fun :-D. I wonder how much the media will hype that one up. Wait, I think I know the answer to that.

Well, I hope that your Spanish is pretty good because you'll need it in either place. People have these ideas about moving to these so-called paradises only to find that they have some of the highest crime rates and social problems in the USA. Unless you are rich enough to live in some walled-in enclave, you will be unpleasantly surprised. The snow does a good job of keeping a lot of riff-raff out!

Speaking of TV news, check out some of the professionally done newscases in Phoenix, Orlando or Miami. You'll see a whole lot more stories about random violence than ever thought of (outside the inner city) in Pennsylvania. Just to bring this back to TV.... :)
