What are Glenn Ordway's options?

if Wolfe didn't make the call then why does he have a job?

Air talent in major markets are hired and fired by upper management. Program directors are more detail-oriented. It's been that way for decades.

Bingo. No PD calls the shots on six figure talent in a market like Boston. Does. Not. Happen.

As I said in a previous post Ordway had a nice 35 plus year career in his home town. He has plenty of cash and never has to work again but he loves the lime light and offering his opinions. My guess is he will not return to radio but will be seen as a regular contributor or possibly a host of his own show on NESN or Comcast SportsNet.

The notion that he would consider doing overnights on BZ AM is ludicrous. Does anyone seriously think that at this point in his career he would want to do midnight to 5am five nights a week.

Cushy weekly/weekend show on 1200 WXKS?

LMA of Bloomberg biz radio now...would he be able to broker time? Would it be worth it?

I would think the biz radio format would be 24/7 every day of the week. Though if there were
open spots like overnight CC could plug in JT the Brick...but maybe not. I wonder if 1200 might
carry still occasional sports pbp as before? They had some NFL football...

Comcast has Felger and a bunch of other regulars doing the nightly talk show. NESN would have to start a similar type show for Ordway to host. I don't see why NESN would start it up now.

don't know what it means but Ordway tweet

>>Enough is Enough. HIATUS IS OVER! Time to talk Sports again with you guys. Talk to you in just a few days. #missyou

I guess he will surface at either 4,7 or CSN on Sunday night. My hunch would be WBZ-TV with Burton.

sports hub weekends??

1510 brokered?

My guess is afternoons at 1510 doing a big show type show.

Glenn would make money on a brokered deal and he would hurt Entercom a little.

When Eddie Andleman and Sean McDonough were at WWZN over 10 years ago they made no dent in the ratings but had PPM existed then it might have done better.

1510's signal isn't that bad ( as say compared to 890 )

A new local morning show will be launching soon on 1510. I doubt 1510 is interested in taking on the cost of hiring Orway and I doubt Ordway would want to buy time on 1510 and attract sponsors.

I agree with the other posters who say he will most likely land a TV gig. If he was going to produce his own show he would have a much easier time selling ads on a TV show than a radio broadcast.

I can actually foresee a Felger/Ordway show on CSN on Sunday nights.

I would not discount Ordway showing up on 1510 as he would bring enough ads over to buy the time and he would hurt Entercom.

Glenn would make money on a brokered deal

After being a big fish in a big pond, why would he opt for the small change, obscurity option this late in his career?

and he would hurt Entercom a little.

Is there any evidence Ordway wants to hurt Entercom? Everyone who turns a contract dispute into a radio grudge match just makes themselves look stupid. For example, Wolfie may have turned Howie Carr into his bit#h, but does anyone really think that Howie Carr would take a short money gig on some thousand watter just to stick his thumb in Wolfie's eye? Carr is a mean-spirited philistine, not an idiot.

When Eddie Andleman and Sean McDonough were at WWZN over 10 years ago they made no dent in the ratings but had PPM existed then it might have done better.

Great cases in point. Self inflicted wounds that served neither of them, nor their legacies, well.

TV is the best option, and that's where I'd bet on Ordway popping up with a permanent gig. Although the money won't be as good (those days may be coming to an end for just about everybody in traditional media), any TV gig automatically is higher status than radio and spares Ordway those 'how the mighty have fallen" stories which will come out of the woodwork if he surfaces at a second or third tier radio station.

Regards,
TSB
