What are some good station recommendations that still broadcast primarily Standards like KLBB?

WNAM in Appleton, WI is another America's Best Music affiliate. They also stream.
I got an idea from something they did. There was some local content at the end of the hour and to fill the rest of the time they inserted "Feels So Good", which I don't think I've heard in the satellite format.

I wonder if any affiliates have inserted actual standards that aren't part of the satellite format any more when there is a commercial break or news break. I literally heard a 3-minute commercial once on an affiliate I hear on the way to the beach.

My local Good Time Oldies affiliate (which has since changed to 70s and 80s) apparently plays its own music during some breaks. There's no way the commercial breaks are so close together, And even if the satellite format played a short song between two commercial breaks, they're usually TV themes or out of character for an oldies format. There are still some good songs being played during those breaks even with the new format. This would also explain cases where an artist was played twice, once as a soloist and once in the group, or when two songs by an artist or band were played together.

For the majority of stations that are truly satellite fed music, the network will have breaks around 20, 35 and 50. at least one will be optional.

Theres a network break twice an hour that you have to take and if you dont take it, the station will go back to a song.

On ABM's sat feed, the top of hour is either 3 1/2 or 6 minutes... if you take the first 3 1/2, you go into a song after the break is over. .. edit to add**.. or you dont have to take TOH either and youll hear that first song they fill with

On ABM, the breaks are all covered with exact length songs to fill the space

The way to know its a local break the station didnt take is if you hear the dj talk coming out of a song around 20 35 or 50... they talk and you hear a pause of maybe 2 seconds with nothing there.. or a liner... and the dj talks again right back into music.

Most affiliates arent going to fill with their own music unless they have a good reason beyond filling time.

Does the SDR keep playing when you close Chrome? Because WMIN's stream doesn't, I leave the browser & it just stops the stream and I've tried everything I know to fix it, no luck.

appear to be discussing your problem. They note that it affects pages using JavaScript to play audio. Many stations' internet stream connections are initiated within JavaScript-based player pages/iframes/windows. Is it possible the problem won't happen for you if you just listen to WMIN's direct audio stream link?

serenade-radio.com has a "vast" collection. It is based in Britain and has likable hosts. A number of songs are instrumental covers but most of the songs they play fit the definition of what we call standards. There are many versions of each song. The shows I have listened to run from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. Eastern weekdays, 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. Eastern weekdays, 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Eastern weekdays (this show is a little more like America's Best Music than the others) and 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. Eastern weekends. I think each of the weekday shows run 12 hours earlier or later too. These shows are an hour later in most of March and early April and at the end of October because Americans change to "Summer Time" and back to standard time at different times. There are also numerous instrumentals from 1 to 2 P.M. Eastern and 7 to 8 P.M. Eastern weekdays. I've never listened but another show that might be the same runs from 8 to 10 Eastern weekdays, morning and night.
Someone I told about this station said the tempo was kind of slow. Some shows have more energy than others. All times Eastern.

Shows at 4 to 5 P.M. Mondays and Wednesdays and 1 to 2 P.M. Fridays have a little more energy.

If you don't want too mellow, definitely don't listen at 1 to 2 P.M. Monday through Thursday or 7 to 8 weekdays.

I don't like Serenade Raio at all Too many shows that I have no interest in. I prefer listening to music I want to hear on my schedule, and not be dictated by hourly shows. Some of those hosts have no broadcast training from listening to them, one just mumbles stupid lines that have nothing to do with the music (honestly think he is probably senile).

But hey, to each their own.

All the announcers sound professional to me.

The man who runs the station has a show where he seems to complain about everything.
