What are your feelings on KTU's new No Repeat workday?

Seems that they have a new thing going on where they will not repeat any song from 8am to 5pm weekdays. As a listener, it sounds great. As a label, it's killing me. :) Especially with a hit climbing the charts but that's the way it goes.

Seems to be a lot more gold and recurrents being played right now.

I'm sure as a label it hurts when you have a hit, it affects the national spins and positioning of that song on the charts.

Look at it this way John, your label does have a great catalogue so many of those golds and recurrents will be yours I'm sure.

No repeat workdays usually sound great for a couple weeks till you burn everyone out on the old gold/recurrents.

Typically this is a stunt done to give a new crop of office workers the impression that your station is positioned as the best 'at-work' station. The good news is that it rarely lasts, they'll go back to 'normal' after a while.

The price the station always pays is sounding far too 'old' for casual listeners checking out the station. Also, it's impossible to work in a current correctly when you can't play a song closer than 9 hours apart. Heck we struggle with familiarity on our 7 hour category at The Dance Station, that one is bad enough, 9 is a killer.

Never the less, anything they believe will help their station, and the format at large by proxy, I'm behind.

Here's an idea: what about the gold from your record label? Rockell (other than 'In A Dream')? Crush (Jellyhead)? And plenty of others, I'd think!
______________

I'm sure an average listener will like this, but they are going to probably repeat the same songs TOMORROW. You may hear a song at 7:55am and then 5:05pm.
______________
