5 PM: still Stunting on 1340 AM. Can someone please find out what time this new format is supposed to start. Thanks.
No
That's wrong that the posters can't post info that is IMPORTANT and find out info like that. I don't have all the resources like you guys do. That is why I asked for your help to find out this info because you guys know more than I do.

Well Julius, I know little about broadcasting in the Brotherly Love capital; have NO resources there, and haven’t the foggiest about who “R.J.” is—BUT I DO chuckle at “Mr Brokered Microphone”, and I know that while much seems to change in this biz... Certain maladies remain the same—like “decisions” headed for the “deadpool” before the stunting stops and intended modulation begins!

My father grew up in the Philly area, and we visited often in the 60s and 70s—I always adored the radio and local music there. OMG—just remembered—1340 WHAT was the first station I heard “Love Land” (Charles Wright) and “Maybe” (Three Degrees) on in between WIBG and WFIL breaks. My grandmother lived in Lansdowne, and I remember listening to ‘HAT chock-full of background “monkey-chatter”—even in those days before Class D (4) AMs were at a kilowatt at night.

Not since I caught Class 4 WKDA Nashville’s Aldo Nova hard rock format at night on 1240AM in the early 80s have I seen anything as ill-fated (except maybe the Elvis format in Cincy)! So... Are there really enough musically-enlightened punks lurking in the Fairmount Park area or attending Upper Darby High School to move the people meter on this "experiment in broadcasting"?

Frankly, I’d stick with “The greatest hits of the 1800s, 1900s, and Now”—but only if I’d won that stick in some morose lottery. ‘PLENTY of fodder for tonight’s “Radio Racket” I'd guess :D

Well if one of the posters has any sources, can someone please tell us what is the delay of launching this new format on WHAT 1340 AM? Thanks

They are having some technical issues right now that they are awaiting a solution for, so the time of the sign-on is currently unknown.

It may still be tonight, or it may happen sometime tomorrow.

If you get info of a sign on time and day of the new format, please let us know right away so the posters can aircheck it. What are the technical issues that is causing the delay of the sign on of the new format?

As we used to say at WILM,

"You'll be the first to know"... They are having some technical issues right now that they are awaiting a solution for, so the time of the sign-on is currently unknown.

What are the technical issues that is causing the delay of the sign on of the new format? And to PSULuis: I'm airchecking it but I can't record several hours of this station. That is why I'm asking for a time of when the sign on of the new format will take place so I will know in advance and tape for about 90 minutes. Thanks

They stream online. Why not just get one of those recording programs to record the stream all weekend long?

Hm, this format does seem intriguing, but an alternative AM station in a major city in 2006... Uh, I think the odds are too stacked against it working in the long term.

AM or FM, if it's a decent format I'll try to listen to it, but as of 9:00 PM in Willow Grove, there is nothing on 1340 AM. How is the daytime signal around the Montgomery, Bucks County line?

Never even tried to punch up 1340 until tonight.

This "alternative mix" sounds like it will have a playlist downloaded from someone's iPod. So -- iPod radio on an AM station vs. an iPod...yeah, that's a real winner. ::)

According to someone, new format starts at 10 PM EST tonight, I think.

I wonder who that someone is...

Michael Klein tells me that the station will be called "Skin Radio".

If you're able to listen to the flip, please give us a call on the show in the 11pm hour and let us know how it went!

Gee, couldn't imagine who "Someone" is...

And it does seem like this will be more than Alternative... Interesting idea... If only I could HEAR this station... Then again, soon we'll have Internet audio in the car (for me, hopefully in a few months) and the whole AM signal thing will me moot...
