KFI is an in-your-face talk and news station. It is not designed to be a traditional conservative talk station. Very unique among talk stations nationwide. It shares more in content with KLSX than you might think.

Don Imus is not a shock jock or at least no more than John and Ken at KFI are. His morning show on MSNBC, not a shock news network, proves that. And his show is on a sports station in New York City yet it isn't a sports show. His brief stay on Los Angeles radio couldn't be heard in most areas due to poor signal and next to no promotion. That isn't a good example.

I'm not sure if I follow your writing here. But since KLAC and Mancow's show are more male oriented it makes perfect sense to have him on KLAC.
John London got decent numbers at KNBR in San Francisco on a sports station (and Imus at Sports WFAN in New York does now). So why can't Mancow? Mancow's show is a plus in rebuilding the image of that station with its recent move from 690/1150 along with Phil Hendrie, another non-sports show. Clear Channel has a huge outdoor marketing campaign for him up now. Lets see if it pays off after Stern is taken off KLSX most likely around Labor Day weekend. I think they will garner some of Stern's former audience.
Personally, I don't think much of Mancow. I don't understand why Fox News Channel uses him (as a live daily cut-in) on their "Fox and Friends" morning show either. Regardless, if any of you heard the David Lee Roth auditions, wow, Mancow is a pro...
