What do you think about this?

Masterg, Back in the days, I believe it was Bobby Day that did the Christmas Party shift.

Absolutely, Joe, Bobby did indeed cover the party night a number of times, but there was someone else. Bobby was a WARM guy on and off over the years, the person I refer to was not. Any takers?

Doug Lane? After all, the Boy Scout HQ was in that building as well.

Wasn't there a guy by the name of Stan Gordon who did the Christmas party gig as well as spot night time news when they needed it?

Don't know Mr. Gordon. Sorry, but don't even know the name. My poser is a tough one, admittedly. The guy in question did party relief in the early to mid 70s, maybe even a bit beyond. I know the question is really obscure, but "real" WARM weenies should know the answer. Clues? Boy, that would be tough, since this gentleman wasn't exactly a household name in southern Lackawanna or northern Luzerne Counties. Hey, wait, that in itself is a clue...

Joe Martin from WCDL in Carbondale did the Christmas Party shift on WARM for a number of years.

BINGO! You got it, warmland, that's the answer, it was Joe Martin. Joe was WCDL for a lot of years, but one night a year, you could hear him on WARM.

Thanks masterg. I'd love to hear the details on how Martin was picked to do that each year though.

Happy Holidays,

WARMLAND

I'd love to give them to you - but whatever they were, I never knew. I do, however, remember hearing that Joe and George Gilbert were friends, so that's the likely connection. For years Joe Martin was on-air and sales manager at WCDL. Where did he go after WCDL?

I remember when Joe came to my high school thirty years ago to tape that scholastic quiz thing. No one cared because WCDL was not the station of choice of high schoolers. Joe still got through it because he was a nice guy and a class act.
