What do you think of "The Possum" 92.1?

You make several good points, but lets look at the flood of news -talkers. Only one appears to be working, WBAP. The others are pretty much "writeoffs" In regards to not much news in DFW.There is plenty, Business news is big, and who says sports has to be at the :15 and :45? Think innovatively and use as many sources as you can, and it can succeed. KEWS demise besides the need for its tower due to KYNG's falling. Didn't have much of a chance due to a very small budget. You go to take the chances and give it strong support, not something "lukewarm" like KEWS.
Market 5 can and should do better than what it has now. "Diversity" is almost laughable.

KLIF or KRLD could improve if they went all news, not" gossip infotainment",and "featured" to death. They could strengthen and use network ties and sports sources. KRLD is could be in a prime position using their TSN affiliation, KTVT-TV plus CBS to compliment their news. In the mid70's WRR-AM used a local news staff and the "NBC NEWS AND INFORMATION SERVICE" it worked until Bonneville bought it and transformed it into KAAM.

So the rule should be if you want listeners do something different, "ACT" don't react. Just because someone went country, and doing well or spanish, should you? They may not have the talent for the long run or funds. The landscape is so watered down, new ideas are drowning.
There is a blur separating K104,Kiss and The Beat with their formats. KLUV could stand some competition.
There is a Need for a "AAA" station, all you have to do is go to the clubs, etc.and come across that info.,just like the old days in radio( and music for that matter).
If you're afraid to venture out and your station is a "brand", get out of the business. You obviously only want to deal in real estate.

KPLEX, you're right. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that most radio and TV stations are owned by publicly-held companies, and the loudest stockholders don't seem to encourage innovation. They want a "guaranteed" profit that's risk-free.

Ironically, that very approach is what going to cost them in the long run.

Too bad a bunch of like-minded people can't pool their money and come up with enough to start buying up underperforming stations and trying something truly new.

Some of those middle-aged losers that love 50s-60s AND 70s will get their wish in just a few short months.

Terrific...though the rumor an oldies station is just a few short months away has been posted several times over the last 2 years and no oldies station ever comes to be.

If you had read my post completely, I was arguing there should be room on the dial for all sorts of formats. As I pointed out, I don't care for most Spanish-language or R&B formats, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be available. I feel the same about oldies -- don't care for it, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be on the air. I'm just tired of seeing nasty slurs against Hispanics or nasty comments about other formats simply because those posters don't like that type of music.

Some folks keep ranting on "too many" Spanish-language stations and that they are for "illegals" and "day laborers." My point is that is about as appropriate as those folks saying something like "It's good you guys are getting an 50s/60s oldies station back. Now you can listen to "It's My Party" on the radio while you go through your high school yearbook remembering the good ol' days...days when you were cool and days where everyone spoke English. Those were the days..."

Stop being an idiot and wake up to the real world. Not everyone on here is going to agree and debate the issues the way YOUUU think they should be debated.

What's wrong with saying Day Laborers and Illigals listen to spanish radio? THEY DO! And so do poor white trash with no teeth listen to Country and Oldies. Sheesh ::)
