What does this say about Fox News?

For better or for worse it says that Fox News Channel has absolutely no contingency plan to provide affiliates with network-wide breaking news coverage (as the other networks do). As far as carrying the FNC feed (which was anchored all afternoon by Shepherd Smith, for which I really think we can all be thankful for), I don't know if that perhaps is restricted to O&Os only. I know Houston carried FNC.

Thank you Tim. That was the point of my thread, not whether or not Fox News Channel is a legitimate news organization.

OP I guess it says the same thing that some of the CSN's didn't use NBC news (& none used MSNBC) on their broadcasts.

When I tuned my local fox they indeed had the network fox news bug (which is different then the FNC bug), and a fox news alert banner across the bottom of the screen. However underneath all of that fox was just broadcasting fox 25's coverage.

With that said however, thats probably the smart move for the network. Most people who want fox news, will just tune to FNC. On a network scale fox can't compete with NBC, CBS, & abc news. Just look at their sunday morning show. However alot of people are interested in how local news stations cover the news, so carrying the local fox broadcast probably did draw a few eyes away from other stations.

Fox broadcast also resumed regularly scheduled programming (meaning mostly affiliates' syndicated programming) while the other networks were still doing coverage.

It says nothing about Fox News. It's a local station owned by tribune with a connection to a sister station in Boston I believe.

Actually, it's a former sister station in Boston (WLVI). More importantly, though, Boston is only two hours away from Hartford AND the largest city in New England, which Hartford is in.

Also, the CBS, ABC, and NBC affiliates in Boston are also CNN affiliates -- meaning that they provide reports and video to CNN. The Fox station is not a CNN affiliate... because it's a Fox O&O and undoubtedly isn't allowed to be a CNN affiliate. Not being a Fox O&O, WTIC doesn't have that problem.

Does CNN have affiliates with NBC Owned and Operated stations? Since NBC owns MSNBC which is CNN competitor.

is that total numbers? Cable News Channels generally attract older viewers

I don't recall what network said this, it bothered whom ever said it. The statement is not word for word it wen't something like this, We are hearing word that an unknown man with darker skin, either "black or middle eastern" is wanted for questioning.

To put out a statement like that is very irresponsible and potentially dangerous to do, especially when it is stated as "we heard".

Would if some nut decided they were going to take their anger out on a "black or middle eastern man" in the heat of anger? An innocent person could have been attacked when in reality these guys looked neither "black or middle eastern" .

I don't watch any of these stations for this reason. There is no excuse to put false info out like that when millions are watching in fear or anger.

As per the OP's critisism of FOX, I don't disagree with you, however the others, CBS, NBC, CNN and the rest are just as bad in my view.
