She does some soft rock songs, which are played on WBEB, a soft rock station

There is an AM station in Portland Oregon (KKSN 910) which simulcasts KNRK-HD2 and broadcasts a local music format. http://www.947.fm/wcradio2 said:Musichead, you have a point. And I've noticed for the last few months that WPAZ is featuring more and more home-grown music and locally produced music shows. It seems to be evolving in that direction. Slowly, but it is happening. Wednesdays and Saturdays in particular.
To be fair to your point, it's not happening all at once, but there does seem to be a move in that direction.
Whether it will eventually cover the entire schedule or not I don't know (that's always my hope... No actual musical genre formatted except local), but I do know that WPAZ plays a lot more local artists than any other station I know of. On a consistent basis. There's so much talent that's local, and frankly I'm tired of 'classic rock' and even worse, 'oldies'.
Weren't the systems offered by Harris and Magnaox compatible with the stereo decoder offered by Motorola? Maybe those systems could be given a fair shake once again. Just a thought. I agree that AM stereo should be given another chance and that radios shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to buy and should have more features which are user-friendly!N1WVQ said:To Quad,
While I'm happy to hear IBOC was turned off, I am curious why C-QuAM wasn't chosen instead. A.M. Stereo sounds good to great, depending on the station. Still, a tip of the hat for trying rock on A.M.!
Let me rephrase my last comment if I may. What I was trying to say was wasn't the decoder on some radios compatible with Magnavox, Motorola and Harris?N1WVQ said:To Quad,

I do too. It's a Sony SRF-A100 but has been quite abused over the years.N1WVQ said:There were some radios which could detect & separate stereo with the Harris, Magnavox & Motorola systems, yes. I have one such receiver.
Because of this IMNSHO those systems should've never gotten the shaft!N1WVQ said:It will also detect & separate Kahn/Hazeltine but a switch has to be thrown to switch between the 2 styles. I think in the former 3 the pilot tones were similar & the decoding methods were close enough as well.
