What ever happened to....

While we're talking about former KJBR folks, anyone know what ever happened to Gene Moran? I think he went by the name Joe Mama when he did nights on KKYK. Jim Grant had brought him up when he became GM after the Duke purchase. I know he was only in Jonesboro for a very short time doing (I think) afternoons after Steve Tyler left. I don't recall what he went by on the air there. He then went to a station in Guam and I'm curious what he did after that.

Hmmm. Don't remember him. That must have been after I left LR. If so, KKYK was a shell of its former self by then. KZOU saw to that. ;D

Thanks for all of the great info...I also used to listen to alot of Rock 103.....I recall that Jennifer Reed used to do mid-day's there?????.....Also....is this Zeke guy the same one who was with Drake & Zeke on Rock 103?????

To answer your questions... Yes Jennifer Reed was at Rock 103 For along time. Jennifer eventually moved on to some bigger things in Dallas and Atlanta. I don't know where she is now. If someone here knows please let me know. Jennifer has a my space page and a website rockandreed.com. As for the Zeke question Zeke Logan was at Rock 103. He and Drake moved over to 98.1 The Max to do mornings here in Memphis. I liked their afternoon show better. But still love the guys.

What about Mark Adams? He was doing nights at Power 102 while I was there doing the little 2 hour shift between Dennis Rogers and Doug Miller(1-3p) in the early 90's. He was pretty amazing on the air.

Thanks, I've been trying to think of Mark's name. Always wondered what happened to him, myself. I used to like listening to Mark. Can I ask who you are or would you rather remain anoymous? I can't keep up with everyone who was there.

LAST I HEARD MARK ADAMS WAS EITHER IN PHOENIX OR NEAR L.A. GREAT JOCK...REALLY UNDERSTOOD THE CHR FORMAT AND IT'S LISTENERS. BUT, THAT'S BEEN YEARS AGO...DENNIS ROGERS

You know, I always loved Rock 103. I used to love to listen to them between 7-8pm on Sunday nights right before "Flashback". I loved their classic rock / new rock mix at the time. It was great to hear "Interstate Love Song" from STP go into "Sgt Pepper Reprise/Day In The Life" from the Beatles. I also recall hearing "Bell Boy" from The Who and a lot of obscure Deep Purple Tracks during the Wes Shahola overnight show. Hell, Z-100 used to play some strange stuff in the beginning of their AOR format days. BTW, what ever happened to Wes Shahola...he rocked...

Nope - I'm not him. What really sucks is that I've had the name Zeke all my lfe, but "Mr. Zeke Logan" moves into the area and everyone thinks I'm him. I did work briefly at CC in Memphis with him though. I was at 96X and Oldies 95.7, and he of course was still at Rock 103.

I always refer to myself as the "other white zeke"

You'll only hear the same 150 to 200 songs over and over now on 103. Wes Yahola got axed with alot of other people at CC. Wes is now at 98.1 The Max with the rest of his old family. I think he is a Producer. I heard him on a remote not long back. They should give Mr. Yahola an airshift if they haven't already. He has a good personality. He's laid back. He has a my space page. They mix some newer stuff in at 98 with the classics. 103 is a shell of it's former self. What with Bev gone and Wes. Don't get me wrong I still like 103 sometimes just not as much as I used to. I heard Chris Jarman today on 98 he has middays now and I like Chris's personality but don't care for the southern accent he's using now. I know Chris is a southern boy but don't remeber him talking so southern on 103. Oh, and Mr. Terry I know the difference between you and Mr Logan. :) You have a great voice. I hear you pretty often on Flinn. Someone from the Dallas board said Jennifer Reed was back in Dallas now but didn't say if she was working. Please forgive my rambling and potpourri of subjects. I didn't want to have to make multiple post.

Well, staying on the topic of - "What ever happened to ...". Anyone remember or know where Glenn Stein or Carey Byars are? Last I heard from Carey he was doing weather at a TV station in Dyersburg TN - Glenn moved to Ocala FL and dropped off the face of the earth.
Couple of really good guys to work with back in the old Kiss FM days.

Man now that I think back - there were TONS of folks that passed through those doors. I'll have to sit back and try to remember all the names to post at a future time.

RE: Mark Adams

Heard from a friend that Mark was indeed in Phoenix, jumped around a little, then programmed in San Fran. Last he heard Mark was at the Jammin station in Portland as PD. This is the station owned by the billionaire co founder of Microsoft and owner of the Trail Blazers.

I used to listen to Hot Scott Fisher & Rhonda Fox in the early 80's when KLAZ was on 98.

I also remember Jim Cassidy on KKYK 104 in the late 70's. He had a cool voice.

Won't mention Craig O'Neill or Ray & Ram since everybody listened to them...

Todd Stuart here, former "Power 102" jock... I have fond memories of the old studio, where the inmates just out of lockup across the street would come over and knock on the (thin) glass window of the studio with requests from the guys still in jail... I remember the "102 days of Summer" when we lived in a hot tub outside Taco Bell on Caraway for 102 hours in early May... watching movies on the van's big screen... I remember the Pattesons taking the toilet paper out of the bathrooms on weekends... the "soundproofing" egg crate mattress foam that was covering the new studio... Guy banning the words "Plethora" and "Cornucopia..." the "aircraft strobe intensity" phone lights, the search for the "White River Monster" and much more! Dennis, I have always wondered where you were now... as well as Steve Tyler. I'm back in college at Oklahoma State now, and after 27 years in radio, taking a break to finish up getting educated... I'd love to hear from former friends/co-workers... my email is [email protected]

Whatever happened to Doug Miller?

hey, diz guy....dennis rogers here and some of the dates have been changed to protect the innocent but i was the pd of both superhits-102 (boring ac) and power-102 (great radio station). kz-100 was basically in default in the years you were in town and when power 102 signed on the air we had state of thea rt studios, texar audio processing, a 994 tall stick "the tower of power" a great lookin' remote van and a great staff including myself, phil jamison, jennifer reed, zeke terry, steve tyler and doug miller. those were the best 6 years of my radio career...bar none...we had a ton of fun and our listeners loved our 'hybrid' chr format that leaned a bit to the rock side. music was dayparted so we could keep the females listening at work but at night we rocked out a bit. i remember getting a platinum record award from electra records for metallica's black album....after 9 pm we played metallica and it worked. formats like that just don't exist, to my knowledge, these days and that too bad. we listened to our audience and our sales people understood how to sell our product. then, in i think '96 the patteson family decided to sell out to duke media...he sold to cumulus...they sold to clear channel and they sold to east arkansas broadcasters in may of this year. clear channel still owns 101.9 and is moving it to memphis in about 6 months or so, actually city of license will be crawfordsville, ar. pop. 867...just across the muddy mississippi...now, kz-100 is part of saga and is called the eagle 100.5 with a classic hits format. ok? dennis rogers

Good to hear from you, Todd - and good luck to you! I never worked commercial during my days in Jonesboro, but spent 3 years on the paid staff at KASU - good to hear how friends and acquaintances from those days are doing now.

I was wondering what happened to some of these from Ft. Smith I listened to back in the day:

Jon and Zach or Jon and Jen from 97.9 B98

I think the guy was last named Fox, Rick Fox maybe & Bobby D. from 95.9 it was called Mix 96 before it became Big Dog 95.9 also Uncle Larry on Big Dog I think his name was Larry McKay.

These may be out of date, but last I heard....

Jon is still with CC in NW Ark.
Zach is working outside of radio...maybe Tyson?!?
Larry McKay...was in Tulsa, I believe.

What happened to Tom Browne? Was at KISR...B98 and KOMS.
