Mega will be Gone by the 3rd week of September

Yeah, but the pop/ac format that is coming will not have José Santos as PD as you stated.

David, will KLOL and KEGL (DFW) become pretty much the same thing, with new branding on both stations?

they may as well flip it. they call the format "smooth jazz" but for the last couple years it's been more like "smooth pop that sounds a little like jazz with a real jazz tune thrown in once in a while".

But CBS would be "Movin" into some pretty fierce demographic competition. Is there enough of the pie here to divide up?

KHJZ apparently did well billing-wise using the old Arbitron numbers. How quickly will spot buyers start to change their minds about Smooth Jazz with PPMs? Or do they see through all this?

Speculation is indeed fun, Stan. A few wishful ideas on my part:

First I'd like to say I like the KGOW stunt of "Good times and Great Oldies". Sounds familiar...
The signal still sucks. Went to Bellaire yesterday, signal is scratchy and doesn't sound like it's at 50kw. If so, they are in real trouble. We'll see tomorrow morning when The Game hits the air. If this is what they will reap from the new antenna, it's game over before it even gets started. I would've thought they'd have fired up the new rig for the stunt..but I guess not. Also, with KLVL simulcasting KGOW won't this be the first time that KLVL has run English programming?

Actually the idea behind that stunt came from one of the engineers that was rebuilding the studio (the old KLDE 94.5 studio on W. Alabama), to put it back on the air the same way it went out, with oldies. He had Mark Landis (formerly of CHR/KKBQ, now in SA at KJXK 102-7 Jack FM) do up some legal ids and some "Good Times and Great Oldies" sweepers. I wanted to hear it but I totally forgot about the sign on date.

Ah, the old Mark Landis, formerly also of KIOC in Orange as well. Glad to hear he is in San Antonio. I always wondered what happened to him.

I am not a female, but wouldn't mind a Movin' station if it is like the LA station. I might start wearing my roller skates and dancing again.

I would think that CBS has learned the lesson and if KHJZ switches format, they would go "FRESH". KODA would be easy prey right about now to take a huge fall as "Lite" in New York City has. I'm surprised that one of the Cox FM'S has not switched to "bright" AC as they have a decent track record of doing that format in certain markets. KIOL and KFNC can't be long for the world either.

Aren't you just tired of Beaumont, Cleveland, Conroe, Lake Jackson, Crystal Beach "move ins" trying to compete with the big boys of Houston?
