What format is missing in Charlotte

With everyone in town tweaking their music Which format is missing which people are yearning to hear and support?

So many I wouldn't know where to start! As I tell my kids there is more to music than just what you hear on the radio. When it comes to the spoken word formats there is a lot there too. Would they get financial support, I don't know.

We really need a Rhythmic AC in this area, something like WMIA-FM in Miami or WMOV-FM in Norfolk.
I'd like to see someone put that on in Charlotte or Greenville, possibly 92.5, 94.5, 96.7, 101.9 or 105.3

Realistically there is a void for a real Classic Hits / Oldies station. CBS has been very successful with this format in a number of major markets and have no idea why they have not done it in Charlotte. The format could draw really good numbers as it has in more of the Top 20 markets. Some broadcaster in Charlotte needs to take the bull by the horns and make the switch.

Classic Country! And right now, someone could kick it off with the slogan:

"Just because it's NEW, doesn't mean it's better....Country Legends xxx.x, Wxxx"

...personally, I was hoping for... all Hawaiin.
.... Johnny Fever, WKRP, Cincinatti

Agree. I think it'd do great on 104.7.

Oldies/classic hits. As said, would be a great fit. Amazing that a market Charlotte's size has no oldies station on FM, even a rim-shot since Magic went off 7 years ago (wow, it seems like yesterday), while for a year or two Charleston had two of them on the AM dial, and before that, 102.5.

Charlotte also has fewer sports stations than smaller markets (only 2 in-town, compared to 4 in Charleston), but oldies is a much bigger need.

Oldies on 104.7 does great in the Tampa Bay area, so why not here?

There are great opportunties for Dave and The Ride but that hole has been there for a number of years and the market has not responded. Is there something out there that we do not know that has kept a metro station from taking the leap to Classic Hits / Oldies and becoming a major player in the market? CBS has experience with this format in a number of markets and they are winning. Clear Channel has put the format on in a number of their markets and they are winning. Go figure!

I don't see K-104.7's updated sound is doing anything for them. If any station should go classic hits, it's them. PPM loves classic hits. Seems like there's more potential in that than whatever they're doing now to try to compete with 107.9 and 102.9.
I think a CBS classic hits station (which would likely be well programmed) would hurt 95.7, but like 95.7 cares...

Clear Channel doesn't have a signal that's underperforming that badly. 106.5 stays near the bottom of the stack but has for years, so they must be satisfied with it. 96.1 isn't doing great (their numbers have gone back down), but I think they're committed to CHR - I bet they'll get Ace & TJ as soon as they can. Kiss 95 is vulnerable now as they don't have a very big presence in AM drive.

During the day, it is on AM. If you're in a good location and have a good antenna.

WIXE is talking about an upgrade but they're not full-time country.
