What happen to WAJP-FM 107.7 Perry Florida

I do not understand why people are saying that Wajp is off the air there is No problem with that station if there was the owner of the tower would let me know he said he can here it clear in Tallahassee and I speak with our girl that handles the station everyday and no problems . The occassional buffer problem or power outage but nothing serious

Don't get it either.

By the way, everyone else, this is the person I just talked to if you're curious.

Sincere apologies.

Wasn't trying to do that at all, just wanted to point that out as people reading this with no clue of our conversation might wonder what you were talking about.
But it should have been easy to figure out anyway.

Ya know, I think Perry's already got a country station or two if I'm not mistaken. If WAJP comes back, or even if it IS up, could it flip to something different if the people running the studio don't mind? Perhaps 80's or oldies, maybe.

Perry currently has two country FM stations: WNFK-FM 92.1, a class "A" station; and WFDZ-FM 93.5, class "C3" station.

Two? That only makes my idea seem better! LOL. Variety is good.

That depends on what is your idea?! What do you have in mind?

Probably something other than Country or Mexican music. If I read another thread correctly this WAJP was Mexican for a time but that failed as no Mexicans exist in Perry. LOL.

There are still a lot of farms operating in that area. I have relatives that own and operate a dairy in Mayo.

Seems like full service with some ag news would be something to think about, maybe with a variety format - on at least one station.

There are actually multiple format holes that exist in Perry and the surrounding Taylor County area. To have all three local FM stations program a country format, even in variations, is overkill and delutes the local marketshare to the point that neither station is capable of generating a reasonable ROI. Spanish language programming, on the other hand, may have some profit possibilities; however, there are other formats that will generate a much higher ROI than Spanish language. Always consider the market and the market's demographics when researching and identifying a format for any station.

Has anyone heard 95.3 The Zone? It's a real good rock station in Perry on a real weak signal. I caught it the other day on 27 near the Mayo Correctional Institution. I wish they could swap frequencies with 92.1 or 93.5 to cover a larger area.

95.3 is a translator owned by Dockins Communications (who also own WFDZ at 93.5). The translator is 11W ERP at just under 300'. It's probably rebroadcasting WPRY (1400kHz).

Interesting, I heard The Zone in Cross City a few weeks ago. Not bad for 110 watts! It was pretty scratchy and I never heard any legal IDs, just the Zone liners so I figured it was some other distant signal.

I heard it today between Mayo & Live Oak. you're right, that's pretty darn good for the power level! I bet I could pick it up at my house if 95.3 K-Love wasn't on the same frequency.

Translator station W237CN does in fact re-broadcast WPRY-AM 1400. Unless I missed something, W237CN operates with 110 watts at 286 feet HAAT.

110W at 286' is going to have a nice signal, covering a large part of a rural county, like Taylor, however hearing it in Mayo, 25 miles away, is pretty impressive.

Apparently WAJP is back but with bad engineering, as noted in a post that got erased with the boards' crash.

Who can pick it up and listen?

It was my post that got erased.

The station is on the air, but with maybe 50% modulation and zero bass.

Also heard WNFK on 92.1...they were playing what sounded like a local bluegrass show, but had a ground hum in their audio that was as loud as the music.

Both stations clearly need technical help.
