What happened to WTQR's new morning show?

Well, that would be classic CC. Maybe I'm naive, but I didn't think you could voicetrack a morning show....seems like morning shows would be too interactive for that...would take too long. Seems more likely they would syndicate it live. If they do that, they'll loose any local flavor and I don't see how they can compete with PAW with a syndicated morning show. Syndication is usually done on the lower tier stations. Has it come to THAT for TQR?!!!

WGTR is advertising for a new morning guy/PD, so I call BS on quad's whole "voicetracking y'all" deal.

It's not so much 'bs' as it was just 'inaccurate' man.
And you know it crossed somebody's minds at Clear Channel somewhere in all that rejiggering.
Plus there's plenty of ads out there that never get filled, ads that only appear for appearance's sake, ads that get modified later on.

It ain't over 'til it's over dittohead. Never count on radio peops to make the best decisions man.

Voicetracking a morning show is not unheard of. Rick Dees does it (or did it) regularly in LA. He also did it on all his syndicated shows. It's the same basic concept as the Tom Joyner Morning Show. By the way, nobody does it better than Tom Joyner! "It's 5...5....5...minutes after the hour..." He's always been solid. Solid as a rock.

I hear Roper is coming in making a quarter of a million dollars from a reliable source. This doesn't make a lot of people happy at CC.

250K doesn't surprise me. The guy is good but I don't think he's a game-changer. Essentially, you will have three guys playing the "All-American" boy role in the mkt (Murphy, Wicker, and now JR; you can throw Flynn in there if you want to). I would also warn JR that those CC contracts often have a way of not "paying off" if you know what I mean.

Sniff's reliable source is not very reliable. The number is $75,000 base plus bones for top 5 25-54. Anyone who would pay Roper $250,000 in that market in this economy would be an idiot....or be named Morgan Bohannan.

That seems more reasonable to me. But 250k??? That's absurd. I wonder how the Myrtle Beach station is feeling after being used as a bargaining chip.

Charlotte...to Columbia....to Myrtle Beach..his career was on an interesting track. There is lots of talk about how great this guy is...but he seemed to be going in the wrong direction for sure.

Know for being hard to work with he is naturally appealing to the GSO CC folks.

I'm sure the troops will rally 'round Mr. Roper and it'll be milk and honey in the hallways in no time.

Course Ron Paul could win the election to.......
