What happens when Jeff Phelps goes back to FSO?

Les Levine is best when he is alone hosting-he's great with callers, and his crabbiness is just hilarious to listen to-he does have a great knowledge of sports-laid back sports talk in this town just does not work-Hooley and Brinda are great-Fedor could go and I would not miss him-I think it will take a while for 92.3 to settle in-they had too much friendly "this is YOUR station "going on in the beginning-callers are important, but you better have engaging hosts.

The trick to "The Hooligans" is that Hooley put his foot down early on establishing that that is HIS show, and that he calls the shots. Brinda has (surprisingly) adapted well to being 2nd banana, and Fedor has 2 grown-ups there to keep him in line.

Fedor got to run amok on RBS when paired with kindred spirit Hammer (The infamous "Bratty Bunch"), but since they've been seperated, both Chris and Aaron have been behaving themselves somewhat more than before.

Every time I tune in, I hear Fedor doing is usual yelling and whining about anyone who doesn't agree with him. His act hasn't improved any.

Don't get me wrong...Fedor is still "Negative Ned" aka the smartest guy in the room (or so he thinks), but now he has Hooley and Brinda to put him in his place. He was at his worst when got to run amok on RBS with "Bratty Bunch" bretheren Goldhammer egging him on, and Rizzo more interested in his next cocktail/golf game/free food drop.

Fedor and Goldhammer would be board ops at any other sports station. They should be thankful Karmazin owns that station because nobody else would ever hire them for anything more.

Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding!!

Free food drop..LMAO-between Rizzo and Munch, I don't know who was worse with name dropping restaurants-I remember Hammer used to go on and on talking about Caddilac Ranch downtown

During Browns pre game show today Chuck Booms calls in and tells Jeff Phelps that the team has quit on Pat Shurmur and think he is a royal buffoon.  Phelps disregards that and says well I still want him to coach the Browns next year.  Either Jeff Phelps is saying that to try (in his own mind) being controversial or he really just does not care (more likely).  Remember his stock response to most Browns questions is that "You did not expect them to win did you?".  Phelps and Pat Shurmur are very similar in personality.  Boring and bland.  :-[

It seems every time I hit the car radio on 923 or WKNR in the past 6 weeks the topic is the Browns.

The Browns. The Browns. The Browns. The Browns. The Browns. The Browns. The Browns.

Often I only have to hear one word ("Mc Coy", or "Shurmur") and I'm gone.

Good, Lord, guys...does 95% of your programming have to be about our horrible NFL team that's probably 5 years from even being remotely competitive???

I'd guess they'll say..."that's what the callers want to talk about!". You mean 50-100 people determine what your entire audience likes? How do you know that's accurate???? I've always heard 98% of of the population never calls a radio station....don't know if that's true or not.

Even a LITTLE talk about the Cavs or Indians would be nice once in awhile.

It's football season so that means almost NOTHING else is talked about except the Browns from August til the last game of the season?

Thank heavens for the "off" button on the radio, and "on" for music on my MP3.

I gotta agree.

I mean, I know they're "playing the sports hits", as it were, and the Browns dominate the sports landscape in town, but a little variety every so often wouldn't hurt.

They have covered the Cavaliers since the NBA got going again, but spend precious little time talking about them.

They even sent Matt Loede to the baseball winter meetings in Dallas...made a big deal about it...but the day to day conversation is still BrownsMcCoyShurmur.

Maybe it's the old adage that Cleveland sports fans are more interested in the Browns draft (RG3 now added to that mix) than the opening of the baseball season. But some mixing up would be good.

Well, the draft is Cleveland's Super Bowl don't ya know. ;)

Would be nice to have a winner there just once. Last good draft was sometime in the 80's.

Tim have you ever been inside a sportstalk station during Browns season? Ask any sportstalk host what it is like to bring up the Indians/Cavs and see an empty bank of phone lines. Bring up the Browns? Phone lines fill up immediately. You may not like it but it is the truth. What would you have them discuss in the middle of Browns season? Hockey? Soccer? Should they discuss the Olympics?

In theory, the Cleveland market is a major league market: Indians, Browns, Cavs....not just the Browns.

It doesn't make sense 6 months a year to discuss only the Browns 95% of the time, and virtually nothing about the other two franchises. All 3 teams play a few months of their season at the same time...not just one team.

You know that's what I meant, Cleveland Radio "Insider".

Hey, no big deal: I'll just avoid 923 & WKNR. Sports isn't the only thing in my life.

A talk radio station shouldn't be programmed by the callers...be it a regular talk radio station or a sports station.

The Cavaliers are now playing. Is it too early to talk about them? What about when pitchers and catchers report? Will they send Matt to Goodyear? (One assumes he'll spend some time there, since they sent him to the baseball winter meetings.)

Maybe this coverage will help spur some talk.

I'm a Browns fan...certainly more than Tim is. But variety...and don't just stick with "should they draft RG3 or Andrew Luck" as your programming from 6 AM to midnight, with a bit of Chuck Booms ranting about how he's gonna run the entire Browns management out of town...
