Les Levine is best when he is alone hosting-he's great with callers, and his crabbiness is just hilarious to listen to-he does have a great knowledge of sports-laid back sports talk in this town just does not work-Hooley and Brinda are great-Fedor could go and I would not miss him-I think it will take a while for 92.3 to settle in-they had too much friendly "this is YOUR station "going on in the beginning-callers are important, but you better have engaging hosts.

During Browns pre game show today Chuck Booms calls in and tells Jeff Phelps that the team has quit on Pat Shurmur and think he is a royal buffoon. Phelps disregards that and says well I still want him to coach the Browns next year. Either Jeff Phelps is saying that to try (in his own mind) being controversial or he really just does not care (more likely). Remember his stock response to most Browns questions is that "You did not expect them to win did you?". Phelps and Pat Shurmur are very similar in personality. Boring and bland. :-[
It seems every time I hit the car radio on 923 or WKNR in the past 6 weeks the topic is the Browns.

Good, Lord, guys...does 95% of your programming have to be about our horrible NFL team that's probably 5 years from even being remotely competitive???
I'd guess they'll say..."that's what the callers want to talk about!". You mean 50-100 people determine what your entire audience likes? How do you know that's accurate???? I've always heard 98% of of the population never calls a radio station....don't know if that's true or not.
Even a LITTLE talk about the Cavs or Indians would be nice once in awhile.

Maybe it's the old adage that Cleveland sports fans are more interested in the Browns draft (RG3 now added to that mix) than the opening of the baseball season. But some mixing up would be good.

Tim have you ever been inside a sportstalk station during Browns season? Ask any sportstalk host what it is like to bring up the Indians/Cavs and see an empty bank of phone lines. Bring up the Browns? Phone lines fill up immediately. You may not like it but it is the truth. What would you have them discuss in the middle of Browns season? Hockey? Soccer? Should they discuss the Olympics?

The Cavaliers are now playing. Is it too early to talk about them? What about when pitchers and catchers report? Will they send Matt to Goodyear? (One assumes he'll spend some time there, since they sent him to the baseball winter meetings.)
Maybe this coverage will help spur some talk.
