What Internet stations are good olides stations?

I'm looking for an online olides station that plays 50s and 60s oldies. KRTH here in Los Angeles plays mostly 70s and 80s. KODJ back in the early 90s is the type of station I'm looking for.

Try WDJO out of Cincinnati...128k stereo at www.oldies1160.com.

No stiffs, no stupid repetition, great jocks, terrific imaging, excellent audio...the way oldies radio should be.

Don't forget Radio Bop (radiobop.com) playing only 50s/60s Rock 'n Roll from 1955-1965 (early Rockabilly through early Beatles)...on the air now for 3+ years with a monthly cume of 15,000+ listeners in 80 countries. Radio Bop is also available at LoudCity.com and Live365.com.

Radio Bop 60s with all 60s premieres in May 2008. We'll launch with 95% of the Billboard Top 40 from the period.

Our other stream ROOTSofROCK.US plays pre-Rock 'n Roll pop/country/R&B from 1944-1954 and is available at LoudCity.com or Live365.com

One man's opinion. comments, (and personal taste).

Best:  Radio Bop (Especially if your taste  basically just runs through the mid 60s, and you also like a little "non-rock" pop stuff mixed in. The music is probably the best reflection of what top 40 radio playlists actually contained during the first decade of the rock era.)

1st Runner Up:  Rich Bro Radio (Super-deep playlist...like Radio Bop...but includes entire 60s decade.  Less "non-rock" pop. Vintage jingles)

Honorable Mention:  Hy Lit Radio  (Crystal clear 128kbs stream.  If you like more of an "East Coast" sound, heavily salted with Do-Wop and classic R&B, this is the one for you. Loads of vintage jingles here, too.)

Honorable Mention:  WDJO (Terrestial station from Cincinnati with a great-sounding 128kbs stream run by pros who really know what they're doing.  Legendary jock Dusty Rhodes heads an all-star cast.)

Honorable Mention:  Oldies 1650 (Dallas low power station with 60s-style processing but a low-quality stream.  Loads of vintage commercials.  Perhaps the best re-creation what '60s top 40 radio presentation actually sounded like.)

Honorable Mention:  Real Oldies 1690 (Clear Channel terrestial Chicago station that signed off in 2006, but continues as a jockless and adless stream with an excellent music mix over a medium-quality stream.)

Honorable Mention:  CKOC or CISL  (Canadian sister terrestial stations in Hamilton, Ontario and Vancouver BC respectively.  Canadian stations have deeper playlists than those in the U.S...partly because of "Canadian Content" rules.  But More U.S. and British titles as well.)

Most Promising Newsomer:  Oldiesamerica.com.  Jury is still out on this one, there are still a number of bugs...but also some encouraging signs.

Most Eagerly Anticipated: Radio Bop 60s. Every reason to expect that Harold Levine's next labor of love will be another fantastic effort!

I agree with 1650 Oldies Radio. The 24 kbs is purposely to make it sound like the quality of an average top 40 signal feel you picked up on your AM band at night back in 1969.

I Gotta throw my two cents in here, with "Golden Oldies' programmed by Diana J, on live365.com, Voted #1 by the listeners...........Rich Bro is good, also, Superadiofan was right about that.

I understand that. 1650 is truly a treasure....sort of like a live museum doing a great job of recreating the overall experience of what was coming out of your cheap portable, table, or car a.m. radio in the 60s. I was only speaking for myself. But after spending all my high school and college years hearing radio sound that way, I find the sound quality/processing fun to revisit, but a bit tiring after a short while. To my way of thinking, the advent of better audio technology has eliminated the need for the processing gimmicks of the '60s. That being the case, I personally prefer the higher=quality options.

I can understand that, Like you, I will listen for the fun and deja vu sound of it , which is the closest thing out of any oldies (terrestrial or satellite) that actually makes it the closest feel going back to 1969. Even over 60's on 6. The commercials makes it the other 50% the reason why your listening to it alot. Commercials you that you would never ever hear again.
Now for serious listening to a CD , surround sound, and digital, I wouldn't want the gimmick processing on. Just for good old nostalgic reasons, I know where to go anytime for it. This is one oldies station that has impressed me.

I'm impressed 100% with oldies 1650 and everything Steve is doing with it. As I said, it's a treasure.

But....I also happen to be a guy who put away my old 45s in favor of listening to the exact same stuff via CDs or MP3 files. But that said, 1650 is a great listen and I still "tune in" from time to time.

I could not agree more! A tight presentation, playing all the great songs that current Oldies/Classic Hits refuses to play. I wonder how they manage to sound the way they do, especially in light of the 0.99 Kw night signal; then again, if the night D pattern is favorable, it might work. Certainly, the web stream is top drawer. Checked out their most recent ratings in the Cincy book, if memory serves well, they pulled a 1.2, which I hope allows them to make money!
