H-e-l-l-o-o-o-o Babies!!!

http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/16602154/8081-Kingston-Pike-Knoxville-TN/

The real estate listing shows there is one-third of the 12,000 sq. ft. bldg. (4,018 sq. ft.) available, the entire left side of the bldg. The WNOX entrance is at the center of the bldg., beneath the overhang. An office machine company is in the right end, next to the Lazer Tag attraction (which is in a separate bldg). I believe there is plenty of space for 94.3 AND a hundred of its listeners, festival seating.

Oh, BABY! That's what I LIKE!!!

The very few people I know at South Central don't think there's any chance that Pirkle takes 94.3 back.

I think they're crazy and he'll take it back if he thinks it will make him more money than he gets from SS for doing nothing.

In any event, I think SS has a plan (and imaging package) ready to go to move the X format to 95.7, 106.7 or both in the event that happens, even though they deny it.

What format would Pirkle go with on 94.3 to sell with WNOX? Country? Would he repeat his 100.3 stunt and keep it rock and force SS to go in another direction? There's no big personality on 94.3 to keep the audience like is present on 98.7. Their numbers aren't great, but I hear they bill well, but that could have something to do with being sold in conjunction with 103.5.

They have room for 94 at this moment, but WNOX is growing by leaps and bounds which may require them
to seek a larger operational space in the near future.

If and/or when 94 comes back I don't think they'll stay with the current rock format. I would venture a guess
that they would do something more along the lines of Hot AC or Mainstream CHR with the signal since there is
so much more listenership available.

I bet they do left wing News Talk for the smaller audience.

That would be the smart move. Or if they wanted to keep Jack, then put The X on 106.7 only. Is it really necessary to simulcast those two frequencies? Where I live, I get both signals equally well. I haven't noticed problems in other areas of town either.

There is a huge hole in this market for classic hits. Easy to program, easy to run, no competition. Sounds like a recipe for success.

It makes sense to have 94.3 back in house regardless of format. Can anybody say FOUR radio groups?

Pirkle ought to bring all the independently owned stations into his group and manage, sell and run them as a cluster.

Can anyone hear Doug Horne's blood pressure dropping at the thought of this?

Doug is down to drips and drabes of what is left of the Horne Radio Network. I understand that Pirkle sold some of stations for him.

Can anyone hear Doug Horne's blood pressure dropping at the thought of this?

This board is starting to get to me. A very large percentage of the posts here are about the activities of this Pirkle guy, so I started checking around to learn what I could about him. I know he owns WNOX and WNFZ, because I learned that on this forum. But that is about all I have learned about him since I moved up here.

As a person with a lot of interest in the media, I have friends in the Greater Knoxville Advertising Club, the Society of Professional Journalists, the American Marketing Assoc., and even the TAB. One thing they all have in common is that none of them knows this person. Is he invisible, or what? Does anyone know if he lives around here, or if he has stations in other markets?...somebody tell me the deal on this invisible man nobody seems to know.

Curiously,
BB

Bopper, I've heard rumors that the brains behind Oak Ridge FM, Inc is a man who came from humble beginnings in rural East TN. Unlike some of the "experts" on this board he started as a young dj for a heritage station in his home county, working his way up through the ranks. Hopefully both of us will have the opportunity to meet this guy one of these days.

Life's too short to let such things bother you. Pretty sure this guy's not a joiner, or at least isn't the type to sit in an Ad Club meeting waiting for people to come up and bug him for a job.

If you wanna know what he looks like, go to the station on Kingston Pike and ask the receptionist if she knows of anyone there who would make a really good Col. Sanders impersonator.

But don't be surprised if he's not there all the time. Rumor has it he's like The Ninja.

I have never seen the guy either but I know some people who swear they have met him. I understand that he is kind of BIG and Santa Claus looking...but might frightin children and small dogs if they get too close to him.

He's an enigma who refers to himself only in third person.

If Batman and Super Man got into a fight who would win? Johnny Pirkle.

Citadel didn't emerge from bankruptcy. Johnny Pirkle allowed it to live.

Chuck Norris wears Johnny Pirkle pajamas.

Geico saved fifteen percent by switching to Johnny Pirkle.

That headset Derek Dooley wears? Hotline to Johnny Pirkle.

Why has Tennessee had a mediocre season? Johnny Pirkle's first priority is 100.3

Johnny Pirkle can pick his friends, pick his nose, and pick his friends' nose. Simultaneously.

Ok, two more:

One day WIVK hopes to be as legendary as Johnny Pirkle.

Arbitron is negotiating for the rights to use Johnny Pirkle's numbers.

/This is kinda fun
