What is the deal with 104.1?

OK, so i've been a long time lurker, and a big radio listener. It was a shame that oldies went away...my wife and i would listen to 104 all of the time...now, i just don't understand what is up with them! Aunt Eloise is a great character, but now she/he isn't on anymore...does anyone know what happened to her? Brian Hatfield hasn't been on for a long time...i don't know what was wrong with him...did he get fired or something? That's a shame too...the wife and i met him at a concert and he was kind to both of us.

I'm just looking for some answers...that station just isn't what it was, and i'm not really happy about any of it.

all access reports that hatfield was fired due to budget cuts. this makes him the 4,000,000th person clear channel has fired due to budget cuts.

I am just curious how you found this website Tom? You must be in the business or you would not have known about it? Why would you give a damn about where Eloise went? Somethings fishy here!!!

I'm always suspicious of new posters. Lots of times it's someone in the biz that just can't stand not talking on the board and they usually have an agenda. Sorry Alleykat336, but your post is a little suspect.

ok, but hatfield is still O-U-T. Check all access news from 3/3 to find out more.

Alright...I give up...I was not going to reply, but why not. I used to be in radio back when it was still fun...I don't have to go into details of where I was...I myself was fired from radio because, well, I sucked at it. Thankfully I was young when they told me...now I'm married and live in King, commuting to Winston-Salem on a daily basis...I listen a lot to the radio, and still love it to death.

Does that take the suspicions away from it?

So Brian was let go...Elloise is not on with brother bill...I'm currious because all of these good jocks and legends in the market are disappearing...why??

-Tom

Geesh...

It's all about the money. That's why people get fired. If the dollars aren't rolling in, people roll out. Even with that, some companies just have the need for greed. On the other hand, some operators are just morons and they keep the people that do them the least amount of good and fire the good ones.

What a wacky world we live in!

Money, yes. Also it is because Clear Channel is inherently evil. They are evil, vile swine who lie for the sheer joy of lying.

hahahaha....I love radio boards.

So, yeah...after being courted to come to WTQR for 6 mos....i get canned after 7 mos....welcome to the biz. It's all about the Mays brothers making their money when they merge. They continue to cut to get the stock price just right for the sale. It's big business.....no big deal. WTQR will continue to go through some changes....Eloise isn't working everyday there...he/she is actually going in for surgery soon to fix some problems...i would imagine after that...they are gonna can him. I'm not saying it will happen...just speculation.

John Roberts (PD) is a very good programmer with a GREAT GM in Tex Meyer.....too much corporate BS that goes on in the building when it comes to other management...people trying to save their jobs trying to meddle. It's a great staff of folks...sad thing is, the wolf pierced WTQR's armor...and it has finally awoken the big bear....WTQR will come back and it will be a dog fight.

I'm not bitter at all, because i've been fired a few times before...again, it's the business.....I wish them all the best of luck....

anyone have a job i could apply for:)

this just in... AllAccess reports that WTQR is in search of a new morning show to join Aunt Eloise. Brother Bill will move to afternoons when that happens.

Brian -

So was the memeo posted before you left the building? You know...

the Memo, quote

"(employyee name) is no longer employed by (company/station name). We wish them well in thier future endeavours."

Good luck Brian, you'll come out on top.

TQR keeps letting the wrong ones go. I loved Dallas Reese - gone, loved Trey Cooler too - gone, and now Brian is gone too. I loved him too. Eloise needs to go. I'm not crazy about Angie Ward either. She comes across insincere to me. At least they seem to realize that there are more listeners out there than the teenyboppers that the Wolf is catering to.

"Teenyboppers"? Gosh, I haven't heard that word in ages. And if memory serves, didn't the wolf finish 2nd or 3rd in the last book 25-54? Hey - old folks like to jam too.

the wolf has been far more successful than anyone at cc thought they would be. also, weren't a lot of people on this board bemoaning the loss of oldies 93? seems that entercom made the right call all the way. and yes, its not "teenyboppers", the wolf is winning across the board. this is the greatest, most serious challenge that wtqr has ever faced and they are not doing well.

First of all, I don't get the obsession with "outing" people on this website. I thought the whole point of this forum was a free exchange of opinions and ideas, which being anonymous allows.

Not that I wish ill on anybody, but to me it quit being funny years ago. Then if you consider the money paid...

hahahah...FINGAR...that's exactly the memo that John sent out......

I went in yesterday and picked up all my chit and spoke with John. I think he didn't have much of a final vote on what happened....but whatever happens, I really do believe the Wolf is a much stronger station and have very good things going on inside and out. Not taking away from what John is going to do...cause, well i helped with everything they are about to do....

Of course with the way CC has basically shut down efforts to do absolutely anything marketing wise, the Wolf will continue to win the key 25-54 year olds.

I don't have much ill will towards John and Tex the GM, they were VERY KIND about the release and gave me money to boot.....there are a few very shallow people that I encountered who really dont care and are still living in the past of the Golden Years....which again surprises me....that they are even around, but all in all good folks.

IF CC is to survive this merger and have moral in the company, they need to change what they are doing....casue let me tell you...Loyalty is what wins as a team....I don't sense that at CC Greensboro....at least the jocks don't feel it cause you might be a statistic

I'm going to CRS in Nashville, and if anyone has a job....feel free to email me a lead....I'll take care of a finders fee:)
