What is Townsquare doing with NJ 101.5's branding?

More paper route...er, paper work...no doubt. One only has so many hours to "random"ly listen to shows and spout the same tired tripe, after all.

Let's be fair.
From what I'm told, today may be a travel day for MedianJ.
(Or NOT.)

He might not have had a chance to check-in here.

News and wx sounders play like think music from Deal or No Deal...definitely need some work.

Seems like they're looking to gut this station inside and out from imaging to sounders and then programming.

I'm a bit concerned about that as well. The website is news-intensive (relatively) and it's tough to navigate the pages of the On-Air Personalities, who - in all honesty - ARE the station. I think Townsquare is doing a better job of branding and promoting its news department (whereas "Millenium News" and "101.5 News" were synonymous and interchangeable), and bringing in veteran Kelly Waldron helps with that.

But would they really have introduced a short code (8900) to text your comments on the current topic to the on-air hosts if they planned to eliminate that component of the station? I'm stumped by that move, unless it was a desperation move to get callers in to less-than-exciting topics.

Wow that's sad to hear. I always remmeremember turning 101.5 on and hearing him late in the night, in the mid 90's with 50's-70's Oldies. I remember this one time it was him and i think Jef McCay talking about ZZ top a and how nobody played them, and how 101.5 only played Touch. He always had a banter with the traffic guy usually jeff if i remember right? or was that somebody else. I think he did different news bits too, like before the morning team came in.
I liked there processing and jingles better then. That's when i Listened themost.
Who was that Tracy person that did nights a way long time ago? I think she mixed talk with music? I have no idea what her show was like, but i remember it way before Twyman.

Willie was there before Press bought the station. He was there earlier in the '80s. Press took over in mid '89. The change of format from AC to Talk/Oldies happened on March 1, 1990. I was hired for a couple of weeks by the former owner just before the takeover...for some odd reason. Tracy Collins was the first Passion Phones host. She was there for only a couple of years. Many very interesting, and some now quite wealthy people went through that building and that frequency before Press owned it, and after. Some, sadly are no longer with us. Some are not doing well now...others are stars. That's life. BE BIG!

Going back to the Kix days, the number of people who passed away at young ages due to various reasons is staggering.

Willie
Barb Spinnelli
Chris Landon
and at least 3 part-timers that I know of

I really miss them.

steve mckay

(anyone know what became of Terry Watts?)

I remember someone calling himself "The Real Don Steele" died in a plane crash, I remember seeing it in the paper and they mentioned it on Kix, this was around 1982 I beleive. He certainly wasn't the REAL Don Steele was he?

As of today, the last John Driscoll voice clip that was being used (the top of the hour "New Jersey 101.5. Our own radio station. Not New York. Not Philadelphia. Proud To Be New Jersey.") has been replaced as well. Given the replacement of everything else he was involved with, I guess it was inevitable.
