What is up with the Delmar stations?

Flipped on 92.9 driving east of Pataskala, and was surprised how strong it came in. Delmar really has that signal pushing far east at 250 watts from what looks like is from the top of the Leveque. Mixed feeling on what they are doing with those low power FMs. They took the 103.5/104.3, and before that 105.7/107.1 formula to the next level, using 92.9/95.1/96.7 to cover Central Ohio. Noticed they went to calling 92.9 "93X." Liked the nostalgia of it being "92X." They have a closer format now to the original 92X, than the alternative format they tried after the WWCD demise. Although, I heard REO Speedwagon and The Offspring in the same set. Still can't wrap my mind around 90's alternative being used in the classic rock format. Would like to hear the oldies format full-time on those stations. There are enough classic rock/hits stations in town.

Not sure how new their website is, but they're certainly leaning into the 93X/95X theme.

I see that are advertising Oldies 1580...but it still is primarily a simulcast of 93X & 95X with the exception of Saturday afternoon - Sunday evening.

I notice that QFM96 changed their moniker from Iconic Rock to Classic Rock a few months back. I doubt that move is related to anything Delmar's doing, but I guess it's possible. QFM definitely dips into the 90's. Of course they're one of the many heritage mainstream album rock station that that segued into playing primarily Classic Rock, so it makes sense for them.

They were smart when they used the "Ohio's Best Rock" moniker. They didn't consider themselves a classic rock only station, which gave them the freedom to add new music that they felt fit the station, and allowed them to attract younger listeners. QFM was owned by a different company back then.

For what it's worth, and I know it ain't much....I believe 1580 has switched full-time to Oldies. Seemed to have happened sometime Friday, and has continued throughout the weekend. Wide gamut stretching all the way from the 50s to the 80s. Now, with that being said...maybe it's just for the three day weekend and who knows? Maybe back to the 93X simulcast on Tuesday...
