I agree. As much as I like WKIX-AM and probably would like WQDR-AM but was out of range when it was on the air, there are just certain formats every market should have.viper452 said:It really is pathetic that Raleigh doesnt have a real rock station now.

There is a rock station in Raleigh - WKNC.
viper452 said:LOL Rock AC? Who invented it? Ive never heard a station quite like 96.1 before.
WKZQ was active rock once. I can tell a real difference. It sounds like someone took away the station's ability to have children. But the ratings in recent years haven't been good, and I even recall someone saying Rock 107 was doing better. I don't even think WKZQ is listed this time.acheron82 said:Now with 100.7 becoming generally a classic rock station, I still see 96.1 coming up with an active/alternative rock hybrid station. Southern markets like Raleigh have trouble sustaining a true alternative station like WKZQ in Myrtle Beach so the few alternative stations around that are alternative lean active in their playlist such as the End in Charlotte. 96.1 should shift to an active/alternative hybrid. More alternative during the day and more active at night with special shows once a week to feel in the niches for both. It can be done.
