What Should Be Next Format Flip AM Or FMStations
Why would CC want to put KFI on FM in Los Angeles? Goodness, this isn't Idaho! Plus, all the CC FM's seem to be doing well ratings wise.travisl5678 said:I'd like to see KFI on FM soon, any one want to predict what station will make the flip?

Maybe KFI has a horrible sales department? Their ratings seem to be doing just fine, and as I mentioned CC FM's are doing well. Why take the easy way out and simulcast as if we are living in a small market, instead of making tons of money with a format that's already in place? Besides, I thought every one on here already figured out that L.A. isn't too worried about news formats? Hence, KABC segueing into a hot talk format in less than 3 months.DavidEduardo said:musicfan101 said:Why would CC want to put KFI on FM in Los Angeles? Goodness, this isn't Idaho! Maybe the "why?" question can be answered by looking at the KFI performance in the core sales demographic of 25-54. They are running between 15th and 19th in the market in this demo.
Successful news / talk stations that have moved to AM/FM simulcasts or simply moved to FM have generally seen the sales demo performance improve, often significantly.
AM's, on the other hand, have increasing troubles in attracting under-55 listeners, and they can't sell the 55+ numbers.
I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with the Clear Channel sales department. And, if no one really cares about news or news-talk, then why have news or news-talk on any station? That's just something to ponder for a moment.musicfan101 said:Maybe KFI has a horrible sales department? I never said "no one cares about" news-talk. Maybe you should re-read and ponder what I actually typed up...?jmtillery said:I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with the Clear Channel sales department. All I said was "I thought we already figured out that L.A. isn't too worried about news formats." Meaning, L.A. (assuming you live here and not in the middle of Kansas) is more of a entertainment driven town, and therefore not into hearing about national and international news. We care about our mayor, and some city of L.A. gov't officials, along with what's going on in Hollywood.jmtillery said:musicfan101 said:I never said "no one cares about" news-talk. I did read what you typed. If I missed something relevant, please expound and set me on the proverbial "straight and narrow".

Wow...you haven't seen the ratings for stations that cover all these topics (syndicated shows, etc.)? Impressive!romer979fm said:musicfan101 said:We care about our mayor, and some city of L.A. gov't officials, along with what's going on in Hollywood.
wow...you represent the total views of 16,000,000 people? impressive!
radiojomo said:KYSR, probably not, weak signal they're definately taking a big chunk of the KROQ audience that could work at CC's advantage.
KHHT? It has a strong signal, and it could be the most possible candidate.
