What? No Willie??

Bravo to Willie...I will admit upfront I am a Cunningham fan. I try to listen to The Stooge Report every chance I get. This was well played on his part. Willie has admitted many times he is a showman, he is all about ratings. He even admitted in Cincinnati Magazine many years ago that he will even play both sides of an argument to generate controversy and buzz. Willie knew what he was doing and he succeeded. The only downpoint to this is that his show was only a few minutes of all days today due to Reds baseball. Tommorrow's show (2/28) will definitely be must listening...

Why blame Obama for a middle name he didn't choose ... but had it chosen for him?

It's all about spite, just to stir things up. If his name was "Bobby" Obama, no one would care.

What Willie said was beyond just the "name calling."

20-million Americans aren't all THAT stupid. They voted for the guy ... more than Hillary and more than McCain. So, those people are just plain stupid.

Cunningham is a medium market "hack" looking to make Clear Channel / Premier headlines out of "ego" ... just like he did when WLW didn't carry an hour of his Sunday night show when Drudge bailed. "If my show is good enough for WABC, it's good enough for WLW."

Republicans need to be focused on what Republicans need to do to win. The rest is preaching to the choir.

Good for McCain for calling Willie out and tossing him under the bus.

WLW is nothing more than listening to a bunch of angry old white guys saying the same things everyday. They are irrelevant and they know it.

John Quincy Adams, William Howard Taft, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Richard Milhaus Nixon, Lyndon Baines Johnson, William Henry Harrison, Martin Van Buren, Ulysses Simpson Grant, James Earl Carter, George Herbert Walker Bush.

I apologize to any one I offended.

"WLW is nothing more than listening to a bunch of angry old white guys saying the same things everyday. They are irrelevant and they know it."
Oh yeah? Tell their sales guys that, and I'm sure they could show you a plethra of numbers to refute that absolutely idiotic statement.

That says much about the kind of business's that choose to advertise on his show doesn't it? Lowest Common Denominator programming means big $$$ for CC Cincinnati.

Name calling, IT'S HIS FRIGGIN' NAME! Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is Barack's legal name. What did Willie do wrong by calling him by his name?

It's a juvenile attempt to tie Obama to radical Islam, along with the other lies and distortions that the moronic wing of the Republican party want to stick to him (BHO is a Muslim, BHO took his oath on the Quran, BHO attends an anti-white church, etc.). Cunningham was playing to a friendly crowd--the crowd of the intellectually lazy.

These morons must place their energy smearing the Democratic candidates at every turn. Why? Because there's no way they can place the same enthusiasm in promoting a John McCain presidency. Not only that, but there's little from the seven-plus years of the Bush presidency that they can cite to voters as any justification for keeping the GOP in the White House.

Willie calls EVERYONE by their middle name. IE a bit that is played even today from the 2004 election..."Willie: what do you think about John Forbes Kerry, Segman." Seg: "Who's John Forbes Kerry".

Was Willie trying to tie John Kerry into being the same as Republican Steve Forbes? Barrack Hussein Obama is the guys name. When he is sworn in Jan 20, 2009 as the media has decided, Chief Justice Roberts will swear Barrack in and Barrack will say, I, Barrack Hussein Obama do swear....

Hussein is not racists, heck, nappy headed ho's was not racist. Those who take it that way are simply idiots that need something better to do with their life.

By the way is it just me or does Barrack sound like "The Rock"?

Willie loves the exposure and he doesn't care who is embarrassed as long as he gets more face time. He was on Hannity and Colmes tonight barking out another hot load of self serving crap and hey - it pays him and CC's bills. Throwing Willie under the bus should not hurt John McCain one bit but it probably will because of all of the mindless voters out there who blindly follow the Willie's and Rush's of our country right to the voting booth without a clear independent thought. Playing Obama as a terrorist because of his middle name is a heck of a stretch and Willie should be ashamed since he is insulting the same office that the conservatives would think is hallowed ground if we all started going off on Reagan, but being the pompous arse he is he's lovin' every minute of it.

Remember - guys like Willie live off of the people who can't think for themselves. I'm no Obama fan but I don't need Willie's fearmongering bullcrap to make my mind up for me. I hope he's patting himself on the back for dividing what little Republican party we have left.

And this is a radio board so I'll also agree with microbob on how WLW has become a mouthpiece for the po'ed right and is walking down the path to extinction. The listeners who eat it up are dying off from the heart attacks and high blood pressure caused by being so angry all the time. At some point, listeners will turn it off and realize that they are part of the finger-pointing problem.

However, Ohio radio man is right too- sales are what matters - but hopefully we'll listen to Earl Pitts one day and "Wake Up, Uhmerika!". I turned Bill Cunningham off a LONG time ago. How he GAINS popularity mystifies me.

Actually, you'll have to tell it to their sales pups, most anyone of substance left long ago because biz is ugly.

Oh, and McCain did not bow to any pressure to distance himself from Bill's remarks. It was preemptive, and it was a smart political move because the nation of people he wants to get votes from are not into that kind of campaigning.

McCain got to be the nominee WITHOUT Rush, Willie, Sean, Bill O, and all the other clowns, why should he start painting his face and climbing in a tiny car with them now?

Willie's job is to build audience and revenue. He's at the top of the front page of the "A" & "C" section and thorughout much of today's Enquirer, and they HATE giving radio stations publicity. He was on NPR yesterday and almost every cable news outlet, blowing away pompous hosts with information they hadn't yet found on Obama. They have no idea who they are screwing with. He's not just another clown - he may PLAY one - but underneath, he's a sharp guy who doesn't start down a path without knowing where it goes and how to get there with the biggest fanfare. He took another boring candidate appearance and turned it into (so far) two days of national attention for himself and his station. Re-read the first sentence of this post.

There is a lesson in that post...if you're going to stroke someone, don't half ass it!!!

Not only does Willie have sources and information others can't find, he foresaw this entire controversy and set the ball rolling himself. He went, not just to introduce John McCain, but to begin a two day frenzy. He's like Yoda, using and controlling the force!!!

Sorry, having Willie act like a clown on the national cable channels might give Daryl wood....but all its going to do in the real world is fire up the same people who listen to him everyday anyway. Meanwhile, people who gave up on that station a long time ago are just shaking their heads and congratulating themselves on signing up for XM.

"Hi. I just heard your midday guy was denounced by the Republican nominee for President....how can I get involved and buy some advertising?"

I don't think CC will hear much of, "Hi. I just heard your midday guy was denounced by the Republican nominee for President....how can I get involved and buy some advertising?"

It'll be more like, "Hi. I here everyone is talking about Willie. How can I get on that boat?"

Or, "Willie so dominates the talk format that the next competitor is in 10th place, followed by 17th and 21st? How do you buy around that?!"

Or maybe, "McCain thinks no one will remember his dissing a conservative ready to put the gloves on. You know, like his campaign manager, Mike DeWine thought no one would remember his gang of 14."

Some advertisers want no part of controversy. The rest want an audience and the bigger, the better.

I just hope Willie doesn't start to sound like the other broken record hatemongers Rush, Hannity, and Levin.

More stooge reports, less hate-speak.

Willie does what he's paid to do, which is stir the pot for fun and profit. No one can deny he is the master, one of the few left in that genre of talk radio who is still relevant. The politics of it all is irrelevant; he's not going to support Hillary, and neither are any of the other conservatives who have their panties in a bunch because they don't really like their candidate this time around.

IT'S ALL A SHOW, PEOPLE. No gaffs, no toe-stepping, just a strategic move to gain media attention for all sides. It worked too, didn't it? We're still talking about it, and I'm guessing Willie is one of the few on Kenwood Road who'll still have any negotiating leverage come contract renewal time. The fact that he single-handedly made our city look like a bunch of mouth-breathing rubes to the rest of the country once again is just collateral damage.
