yup. a shift to hot ac.
when Now first hit, B101 was really upbeat. they were just knocking on the door of hot ac. Now countered by being more mainstream.
after the holiday book, B decided to head back to the mainstream (like a few other ac's have--WJBR for one). Now decided to counter by going hot ac.
so, what NOW? look for Now to stick around another 6-9 months, then drop the format. as long as jerry lee can "buy" the market away from anyone else, B101 will be the only ac in town. greedy media doesn't have the stomach to battle with them. they couldn't do it with Magic so what makes anyone think they can do it now? CCU couldn't do it either with Sunny#2 or Star. dan lerner couldn't do it with Kiss. pyramid, et al, couldn't do it with Sunny#1.
just as no one was able to top the old WDVR way back when. the 101.1 frequency in philly is a juggernaut as long as jerry's there. he could do all-polka-radio and still win the market...
