This is maybe one of the strangest threads here ever (and that is saying alot). The poster originally stated he has had many "sleepless nights" thinking about the Memphis market. And now he writes about radio stations. All the while singing the praises of a radio station that no one is listening to. :p

Okay, I will admit I do find myself on Snap every now and then just to witness what will happen next. I get a chuckle when they play the edited version of "Super Freak."
 
Yes it is a strange thread, and Im shocked by certain peoples attitude. From Bratton the VO guy who is obviously pissed at Brad for not putting him on the station, to a certain APD who is pissed because most of his career was spent in this medium sized market. Brad will be New York City someday and you all wont.
 
You know, I was told about this thread by a buddy of mine last night while knocking back a couple brewski's.....
If the guy starting this thread really is Brad, then he's dont a helluva job getting people's attention. I can't remember the last time a post made 3 pages deep in comments. I bet at least 1 or 2 people viewing said thread turned on SNAP to see what the hoopla is all about.
If this isn't Brad, then I think it was a joke by some guy trying to pull a lot of legs. Simple joke formula:
Start with a new station. Add in your praise for a person that is generally not well recieved in the market. Chat about how great said person is and how they are going to bring thier new station to such great levels of stature in said market. End with the 'what is everyone's opinion' question. Hit 'enter' on the keyboard...let the joke begin!
There is nothing wrong with Snap. From what I can tell in this market, getting a 2.2 in your desired demo seems to equal success, so everything will be cool in that aspect.
Snap and Kim get my attention when I'm looking for something upbeat on the dial..though the 'S' bomb I heard dropped on Kim about a month ago was surprising.

I am still waiting for my 'all spanish weekend, polka/deathmetal weekday station.
There a niche in the market for it...

For the record (and Meep can attest to this), there are certain things I just won't do in radio, certain formats I just won't participate in.

Snap is one of them.

If nominated by you... er, I mean, by Brad... I would not run. If elected, I would not serve.

So much for your "theory."
 
I have tried so hard to stay out of this, but just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in. ;D

I never thought I would see the words "Brad Carson" and "Genius" in the same post, unless it went soemthing like: "Whoever fired Brad Carson is a genius". I know that Snap has hired at least one jock. He starts tomorrow, and is a transplant from Texas. Hispanic guy named Marco. Yeah, that'll fly here.

Getting back to the point, Brad has a friend somewhere, why, I have no idea. This guy killed The Buzz, point blank. He has no business programming anything. Snap will last about a year or two, that's it.

Oh, and if you look at Atlantic City, he was ALSO responsible for THAT station flipping format and being a satellite to WKXW. You are 2 for 2, Brad.
 
This Brad fellow sounds like a real piece of work. I hope I never run into him. If turning to cheap stunts like patting yourself on the back on a radio message board is the best he can do, SNAP is in worse shape than I thought. Is this what you call geurilla (sp?) marketing or just very poor judgement?
 
Wait a minute as far as the rating in AC go ... don't blame Brad for that. The company he worked for didnt give him the support he was looking for. He still won, and because they wanted it to be a tax right off, they flipped it. As for Bratton, please man... maybe it was your funny cartoon in your all access ad that sent its tape into Snap. Brad is a good guy, and this attack by the entire community on this board is most disturbing. Now we know what Howard Stern must have felt like at WNBC. Brad has been a vital part to the success of Entercom, and may I add that since Sacramento is in some trouble maybe he should go save that station. Its obvious that he is not appreciated by the good people of Memphis...

Say somthing nice about Brad!

Lets see if you can do anything but attack.

Brad is a genuine person with a passion for life. He is a family person and if you looked at his myspace page you would see he is engaged to a beautiful woman. She is most certainly hotter then anything negative people like all of you could get. Maybe thats it, you all are deprived in certain areas, maybe that is why you hate. You spend your time talking about radio, instead of doing. You look at numbers, instead of getting them. I feel sorry for you all. Brad is living your dreams and you are angry at him for it. Great job, Hot Wife to be, and a powerful radio company who believes in him.

Dude, seriously, you sure have a lot of intel on the radio biz for someone claiming NOT to be in the biz..... I have no lofty ambitions of being in the radio business. As my nick says, I'm just a radio fan, female in the 18-54 market and my opinion comes from being a listener - I don't care for Brad as an air personality. But if it makes you feel better, I don't care for Ron Olsen or Zeke Logan either.... :-*

Wrong Mike Bratton. He's the one in Chicago, I'm the one in Memphis--and about to be in Birmingham.

But how in the world would a "radio civilian" know who sent a production demo into Snap? Hmm?

And for the record--if your... I mean if Brad's fiancée is "hot," my wife has to be categorized as nuclear.

I'll say somethng nice about Brad....uhhhhh......mmmmm....I'm thinking......Well, maybe I can come up with something later today. I'll listen a little more to SNAP, the greatest thing to hit Memphis radio since Elvis Presley.

And, I'm tellin' ya...that PA system in my little old truck was a wonderful therapy for traffic.

That, and turning the windshield washers sideways to squirt people (up to 25 feet away) were quite a source of entertainment after I stopped self-medicating so much! Ha!
